  • TDR 2nd Flight - George Jones

    Had a fantastic session up the field with Paul Gotts (Dentman) today and watching Paul fly his N7 was an absolute pleasure as usual but my biggest smiles came from my TDR maiden. I've flown this TDR before when Maj owned it so had a bit of an idea what it's like but what I got today was way more than I was expecting.....basically it's nothing short of amazing. Had one gentle maiden flight with a couple tweaks needed in the vbar and then this was my 2nd flight with it. Got a limited edition Xera 4530-500 motor in it and with a headspeed of 1700rpm it just has so much power it's untrue. Well pleased I have to say, thanks Phil Dall for selling it back to Norfolk!

      IMHO George your 1st flight was far more impressive than this one I recorded , credit to you as my models maidan flights are very tame and not doing flat out hurricanes !!
      Always liked TDRs mainly because of the flight performance at low ( ish ) rpm now you can fully appreciate why MAJ has owned a few ..
      its really good to watch you G as every time out you progress , Please take note .......the corn will be taller next time out so please fly a little higher with that tsa ..
      i enjoy my N7 however it doesn't seem to be a popular choice ....not sue why?

          Nice, love your style of flying too.

          Watching that has given me the itch that needs to be scratched. I can see my TDR's coming back out soon

                Seriously mate you really need to try one, it's like nothing else i've flown.......I might even go so far as to say it's the best heli i've flown period. Unbelievably smooth, lovely sound but above all it's that power from such low head speeds. I averagely run 1900-2000 depending what it is but this flight was just 1700 and I was not giving it as much as it could cope with. The flight after this I did a flat out backwards inverted hurricane, 1700rpm, Rail 716 mains, 14 degrees and it didn't remotely bog at all and it was seriously moving then! Fantastic heli.

                    Slightly off topic and slightly rhetorical question.

                    Why has anybody ever sold a TDR?

                    I wouldn't if I owned one.
