  • pitch curve problem

Hi Guys, no doubt this has been covered a thousand times before, but could someone advise me once again please. I have set up my raptor 30 servos and the like and tried to set up the pitch curve through the transmitter. I took the degree settings from a demo vid on youtube.

being. stick down -2 degree, position 1, 0 degrees, position 2 +2 degrees, position 3 + 5 degrees, stick up + 10 degrees. All seemed to be going well until position 3, the control seemed to be at the end of its adjustment before the guage was reading 5 degrees, and obviously no chance of getting + 10 degrees for stick up. I am using a jr x2610 controller. Obviously i am doing something wrong or have done something wrong on set up. Please could you help?? Thanks, Darren.

You need to check the pitch setting at the mid stick position on the collective. Set it so it is zero degrees & make sure that the servo horn is at 90 deg to the pushrod. Once you have done this you can set up your upper & lower pitch settings.

Also make sure Darren that the servo & servo horn is the right way around to make the pushrod to the collective tray as vertical as you can get it.
It will make it easier to get equal movements in positive & negative pitch for later on when you have progressed to flying it about.

Hi Martin, At centre stick the blades sit at 0 degrees, the servo horn is at 90 degrees. It almost seems like its the control. before i begin adjustment there is a line drawn on the screen from 0 to max. therefore the nearer i get to stick up the adjustment range on the control is running out. by the time i get to + 5 degrees i have no adjustment left on the control because it is already at its max. I am very new to helis and am possibly misunderstanding some of the terms Thanks for your help,
        Darren

Right, set your pitch curve to a straight line, 0, 50, 100 on the transmitter, make sure you do it for all 3 modes ( Hold, Stunt, and Normal ). Next set the stick to mid point ( it will say 50 on the screen if you have it in pitch veiw ). Turn on the Heli, remove the pitch servo horn. and rotate it until it sits striaght out from the servo, horizontal on a rappy i think. Then move the stick top to bottom, you should get even travel both sides of centre, if not, you need to set the ATV's for pitch to 100% top, 100% bottom. When you have done this, connect your pitch linkage that goes to the pitch craddle, and see what you have in available pitch.
-I don't crash, I just land with enthusiasm.

Hi, After setting controller back to 0, 50, 100 on all 3 modes i can no longer seem to adjust the pitch curve. the graphics go up and down but nothing happens to the heli. Any ideas??

                    Thanks, Darren

What you realy need to do is get somebody to look at it in the flesh so as to speak. You know of any clubs near you ???

Its your tranny that is the problem by the sounds of it ( set up programming issue ). You should have 5 point curves to set up on the tranny which is 0 , 25 , 50 , 75 , 100 which gives the servo a quarter movement per percentage , quarter servo is 25 and 75 is three quarter movement on servo . The curve isn't 0 , 50 , 100 , that would be a 3 point curve. If you reset the tranny back to factory settings then itll get rid of what you have done and you can start again . If the servo arms are set as in the radio set up in manual for the helicopter then a pitch curve of 0 , 25 , 50 , 75 , 100 should get you some where in the region correctly set up. - 10 , + 10 and 0 degrees at centre stick. If you have say -8 and +12 then addjust the connections to the main rotar grips by about 4 or 6 turns and then rea check your pitch on blades and it would have changed to say -9 and +11 . Keep doin this till it is correct. But pitch gauges are only a rough guide and it may read - 10 and +10 but the blade tracking could be out and you would need to adjust the tracking then.

                              Regards Jamie
