  • Clunk in Header Tank??

Just wonder if I should or should not fit a clunk to a header tank.

I know the purpose of the header is to stop air bubbles entering the fuel lines (then engine) but I have done several forum and internet searches and there seems to be mixed opinion as to wheather there should be a clunk fitted or not.

Whilst a header should remain full throughout a flight provided the main is full, however, once the main is drained then your header is all that is left and I've got to that point on a few occasions, even having to do an auto due to running out of fuel so for me its worth it. I can't see what benefit you get from not having a cluck in it !!
    Cheers

plus if there is n clunk, when the heli is pointing straight up, then if there were to get any air bubbles in the header (like its meant to if the main tank clunk comes out of the fuel) the air bubbles would get in to the carb feed and stall the engine, thus rendering it useless...

Cheers for you input guys, I have always had a clunk in the header tank of my raptor as thats the way it come, also the header I bought (Quick UK) for the trex 600 I'm almost finished building come with a clunk. I think after reading this: http://mrchc.org.au/Mrchc/Header_Tanks.html it has lead me to confusion as to wheather the clunk should be there, I am well aware that if the main tank runs out and I'm running on the header I will need to clunk.

Hmmm. People need to decide why they are using a header tank. This will tell them whether to fit a clunk or not.

QuickUK header tanks come with a clunk as this is how they buy them. They are normal fuel tanks with a nice metal bracket they make.
