  • "Rays'" 450 setup

A Happy New Year to all.

Just been watching "Rays' " DVD and in the setup of his Thottle curve in Normal mode, he bumps up the throttle trim which he states gives a better control and more headspeed in the hover and descent.
He also mentions using the ESC but does not explain why or what. I can see the reason to get more headspeed but how does he drop the throttle to zero if and when reqd. Unless he uses throttle hold dropped to zero and surely you can't just switch off throttle hold to start up again without damage to a pulley if you don't have zero on the stick he seems to have quite a lot of trim in.
Maybe I've missed the clue. Any ideas welcome.

    Cheers

The normal throttle curve has to start at 0. What I think he means is a curve of :

    0 - 60 - 75 - 87 - 99

is better than a curve of:

    0 - 25 -50 - 75 - 100

That means you get better control in you descent as you have a head speed of around 60% instead of 25%.

As well as better control in the hover as you will be using around 87% instead of 75%.

Please correct me if wrong as I don't have the DVD's. All the numbers are thoretical approximations !

Thanks for the reply. The curve you show 0-60 etc is one recommended to me .In his DVD he uses something like:

      0-35-55-70- 90

Its the winding up of the throttle trim before take off stumps me. Because surely at some point he's got to take it off.

Still we live and learn and then get more confused. If it ever stops raining again perhaps I may be able to try it out.

      Cheers
