  • Ball link thread lengths

Just a general bit of advice please I think - is it possible to buy the ball part that screws into a servo horn with a longer screw part so a nut can be thread locked onto the back?

The reason I ask is that on my 250 the ball just completely pulled out of the servo horn. I can't be 100% sure if this happened in flight, or in the subsequent crash when I tipped over trying to take off again, but, given the only damage was a few teeth missing from the main gear and the stripped plastic in the servo horn, I'm inclined to think it separated in flight by itself. I'm thinking that if this had happened as a result of the heli tipping over on take off then I'd have expected something else to have bent or got damaged at least!

It makes me think the whole reason the bird tipped over on take off was because only the left (pitch) servo was actually connected and not both left and right. It would make sense. When the bird came down it dropped pretty damn quick but because of the direction it was dropping I managed to get a bunch of right stick in which I guess together with the 3GX helping me allowed me to get it down safely - all be it a bit untidily.

My bad for not walking up to the model and investigating and thinking "hmm, that's odd - let's try that again" of course!!

So not keen on the prospect of that happening again and wondering if I could get longer threaded balls allowing me to stick a nut on the back, or whether that may be a bad idea for any reason, or maybe there's something else I can do (better servo horns?)
