  • 500 EFL PRO Head Speed

    Hi All.
Fairly sure I have this right but just wanted to check. I am just setting up the GOV in Vbar and wanted to try and match the head speed I was using before as a starting point. Standard 500 MX motor and ESC ( RCE-BL70G) I had throttle curves before as follows.
    Normal 0,75,75,75,75,
    Idle one 80,80,80,80,80
    Idle two 85,85,85,85,85,
I know this is lower than a lot of people are using but for my flying still being a beginner seemed to fly fine without it revving to bits and gives me 5:30 flight time no problems.
    So max head speed would have been 4.2v x6cell = 25.2v x 1600 kv = 40,320 RPM / gear ratio (134/12) 11.67 = 3455 RPM head speed.
    At the end of the flight say 3.8v x 6 = 22.8v x 1600 = 36,480 / 11.67 = 3125 head speed. At 100% throttle. Maybe x 90% for efficency so 3109 and 2812 from start to end 100%throttle.
So take 80% of this for my normal idle one and I should be targeting say 3109 at start of flight x .8 = 2487 for the Vbar set speed. I have the pulse sensor and it seems to be reading ok
So maybe set the max head speed in Vbar somewhere around the 2800 mark as dont think I would have ever exceeded this before.
Now just have to work out the new throttle % for the Vbar as they have a funky way of working it out. First 50% is not counted so the % numbers are not the same. Haven't really got my head around this yet but at 80% throttle testing last night was only getting around 1700 RPM on the GOV speed.

    Cheers
