  • Hitec Optima 7 + 3gx v2.1 = Help Please

Ok folks, figures my first post here would be out of complete desperation... I just completed construction of the Align T-Rex 450 Pro V2 3GX FBL and I am trying to setup the FBL system to work with my Hitec Aurora 9 / Optima 7 Rx. I have followed the Taiwan instruction manual to the best of my ability and I actually have two problems. First, I cannot seem to power the Rx through the ESC. When I use the patch cord from the 3GX box S.Bus to the SPC or even CH7 / Batt on the Rx, the damn thing wont bind to the radio. However, if I provide separate power to the Rx it binds and I can enter DI setup on the 3GX module.

Second, when I actually DO get into the DI setup, my channels are all wrong even though the wiring harnesses provided by the 3GX module correspond exactly with the radio's channel assigments. I have the radio set up for 120CCPM and the swash mix is defaulted to 60% across the board. If anyone can help me with even 1 of these I will be eternally grateful.

    Thanks!

I haven't actually done this myself, however I'm just about to start a FBL vibe 50 build. I'll be using an optima 9 rx and a 3gx unit. From all the reading I've done you will have to power the 3gx and rx separately. I believe it has something todo with a delay during the rx/tx binding that prevents the 3gx initialising, however I might be wrong. I've not come across many people running hitec with align 3gx units, mostly spektrum as you might expect.

Can't help you with the setup though, not that far into it yet

I'll be keeping an eye on this, good luck.

Are you using A9? If so change the channels as the connection you done to the 3gx if you haven't done it

I managed to get my 3gx working with both an optima 9 and optima 7 rx. Just followed the standard connection instructions in the 3gx software/manual. The power goes to the 3gx unit first and then the rx is connected to the 3gx.

I've ditched that method and I'm using the SPC port to power the rx as I have dual outputs on my regulator.

Try the "Freddy can fly" 3GX setup videos. They helped me massively when I set up my 3GX on my 500 last week. Part 2 contains the bit about servo identification ..
