  • Too much or not enough gain???

    Hey guys,
I was flying my 450 pro last night, with a gp750 gyro. Gain is set at 72 with a 95% flat throttle curve.
I had a slight wag but nothing drastic so carried on flying. 3 batteries, no problems, 4th battery, i came out of a loop, started to go straight into a forward flip but the tail lost its hold for a second. Now mechanical problems, so was it just a one off or do i need to look into something a bit more?

    Thanks, Dan

Was the wag quite slow? Or was it a fast wag? That tail 'may' have blown out for a second. Depends on how much collective you applied etc, but i wouldn't imagine it would happen in a forward flip where strain on the tail would be at a minimum. Is your gyro down solid? No wires loose near it that could have maybe made contact with the gyro?

The gyro is fitted solid, and no, there is nothing that could knock the gyro. I always pump the heli up an down when i take off and it held fine then. The wag wasnt quick but it wasn't slow. And it wasnt enough to encourage me to land and drop the gain a bit lol.

I was going to say it sounds like the gain is too low :-o. If it's a slow ish wag.

You can try raising the gain until you see a fast wag and then back it down a bit. Make sure the linkage all runs as smooth as possible and doesn't stick anywhere.

I think i sorted the problem now thanks guys. I had forgotten to use a little brass collar on a screw so there was a bit of play in the one tail blade.
Shame tonight, my 3rd battery ran out of juice when i was half way through a loop, now the poor heli is in bits!
