  • Governor setup

    Hi,

I need to setup the Governor (Align RCE-G600) on my Trex 700n and just wanted to check what flight mode do you have the tranny in when setting the stick travel? Does it make any difference? I have been told to flatten out my throttle curve to 0-100% in a straight line and set the Governor up, then put the throttle curve back to its original values.

I run my Governor on the Aux2 switch on my DX7 and leave it on for ALL flight modes at present - any comments on this?

Have the same thing to do to my 600n too - just seemed to fluke a value rather than putting some science into the equation.

Also, can anyone recommend a cheap tacho for setting the head speed?

    Cheers.

Anyone any ideas on the governor setup? I'm struggling to get it set correctly so could do with a few basic answerrs anyone please:-

    1. Do you set the governor in normal or idle-up?
    2. What value should the Governor channel travel adjust be set to before setting? 100%?
    3. Do you have to change the "normal mode" throttle curve to a linear 0 to 100% straight line before setting?

I've looked through the Align setup sheet several times over and it doesn't help any.

    Any comments would be appreciated.

From memory it doesn't really matter what mode you set the governor up in the important thing is to have a linear throttle curve from 0 to 100 as the governor needs to be able to work out the high and low throttle points. Once you've set these end points then you can change your throttle curves to be whatever you want in ID1 and ID2 BUT they must be above 50% at it's lowest point, otherwise the governor will disengage.

I would set the governor RPM endpoints to 100% as the align governor is a reasonable simple device so make things as easy as possible. However setting the RPM is a bit of a hit and miss affair unless you've got a tahco.

Regarding tachos, I've seen people with iPhones and Android phones have reasonable success with tacho apps you can download, but I've no idea on a cheap tacho as I used one that a guy had down at the field.
