  • Setting up servos with 3GX

    Hi,
Being new to fbl and 3GX I was just wondering how to set the servo arms at 90 deg.
I usually just hook them up to the receiver before anything is installed, but as I'm using the 3GX as the receiver can I still do this?

I have one of these I could use to fit the arms as close to 90 as the splines allow, but I've always done the subtrim on the bench so they are spot on before i fit them on the heli.

Plus Ive never used it as not sure if it would give the same results as doing it from the receiver the servos will be used with.

    Cheers, Chris.

You still do it in a similar way, But it will be done in the first step of setup. Follow the instructions through on the software using the next button and you cant go wrong

      Hey Chris.

As above, you will need to level the servo arms while the 3GX is all connected up correctly and working. Reason being you will be working the servos from known points stored within the 3GX.

The supplied pc software and manual combined is relatively straight forward to follow, so don't worry and take your time.

Any problems pop back here to ask and we'll be glad to help.

        Ok, Cheers guys.
I have to admit I havent looked at the software yet as I didnt think I was at that stage..
So do I need to fit the servo arms as close as, then fit them to the heli then go from there with the software?

I would power it up into setup mode without the servo arms on, Go for mid stick (0 deg pitch) put the arms on, then level the swash mechanically with the links.
          Then follow the instructions.

            Hey.

What model are you setting up out of interest?

As above, power up the model and set your collective/throttle sick to its mid position then set you servo arms level before moving up to level the swash. However if at all possibly try to level the servo arms with minimal to no sub trim preferably. Its time consuming but swap servo arms around between servos till you get the best possible combination with the arms level. This will help pave the way for a much better flying model.

              Thanks Simon,
              That sounds good to me...
I haven't looked yet to see if i can get the elv arm on in situ, but no biggi to take it off again if I cant.

                Hey Coolice,
Its a 550 V2. Ive done the job loads of times before with a receiver, just not with a fbl controller.
I didnt know if it was the same. i.e. if you could use the 3GX to centre the servos before installing anything.
