    Hello Everybody,

I am having problems with tail wag in HH mode with this Gyro. I have been through everything and still it seems to wag, in rate mode it flys ok, but not as a solid hold i was wishing for. On HH mode the gain is set to 70% and the tail starts to wag about 4 secs after lift off. I reduce the gain 1% at a time all the way down to 50% by this time the wags are much slower but the arch is very wide, not like the 70% wag which is like a dogs tail !.

the gyro direction is correct, my servo is a S9257 and is set correctly mode is set to F3C and responce is standard.

Im not sure on the settings inside the dx6i for HH what should i have them set at ie DR/expo and other things? Im using the huey scale body not that i will ever have enough courage to fly 3d, so scale flight only.

Another thing i think about is the conversion in the tail rotor system for the huey body but cannot seem to pin point anything there. clockwise rotating main blades CW tail blades.

I just dont know whats wrong

Ive looked at loads of sites but always get mixed messages

    please help

    regards

    Matt

Have you tried a different gyro to see if it is faulty..?

If the gyro is ok and it is not sorted by reducing the gain on the gyro, it can come down to something mechanical... ie stiff links binding tail pitch slider/bearings in the tail grips, stiff tail control rod etc..

Well after some fiddling around some more I finally got it working well in HH mode with gain set 68%, I rotated the gyro 90 degrees and this seemed work still think its quite strange, also i did some travel adjustments again.

I have never used HH mode before and what i have seen so far its good. Im use the rate mode, one question i have say if the tail geys hit by a gust of side wind, how good it the gyro at holding? is there a setting that stiffens it up for windy conditions?

      regards mat

Had problems with my tail in the ealier days with the s9257 what you need to do is be sure servo horn is 90 degrees of boom" with no DR/expo also reset gain to default 100% then you need to connect the tail slider linkage rod as far in on the servo horn as you can at same time achieving the tail slider end points, then in travel adjust gain 100% down to 70% you can go down as far as 25% so long as tail hold when you give burst of throttle.
These heli's are very difficult to setup as a scale the head/blades seems to resonate, this can be reduced by converting the head to the 325se alloy head parts but still can be difficult to achieve a vibration free heli when the scale is fitted.
        Good luck!
Today's outlook is fine for flying.
