  • 8v Setup

    Sup Guise,

Looking to run my DS610s V-Bar on 8v, But I have a S9256 as the tail servo that is only rated @ 4.8 (Even though I've been running it higher)

What sort of step down should I get? I have a align 5.1v Step down that I had on the GY401 - S9254 setup, But I heard that the 5.1 Stepdown is pretty crap? and would still blow my S9256 up if i was to run it at 8v?

    Regards
    Callum

I am not electronics expert but the 'drop downs' are, I understand, simply a diode in series which effectively drops the voltage by 0.6 to 0.7V. Whilst this is OK for a regulated system that is putting out 5.7V (i.e. drops Gyro servo voltage to 5V) they will not work (unless you attach 5 of them in series!).

I have a similar problem at the moment (LiFe supply into VBar) and am considering one of these Spektrum VR5203 Dual Output Regulator as it will also allow me to power the throttle servo (also a 8900G) safely.

Yep I use the spektrum dual step down. Works well :-)

following a little more research I may go for one of these with the advantage that it'll provide a failsafe main battery switch as well as dropping the voltage for gyro and throttle supplies

the spektrum regulator worked fine for me, and the Outrage tail servo works even better

I am looking at the 8v Outrage servo, any know how it compares to the JR8900G?

Had 8900, BLS251, and the Outrage tail servo.

                All are top banana
