  • Hk 500 Problems

Hi, i bought a Hk 500 kit and built it up. Its all built now, motor, servos, esc. Ive done it for something to do, as im off work with a back injury, so wanted something cheap to build, and i had spare parts knocking around.

The problem im having is everytime i apply the throttle the swash plate is moving down instead of up. Ive checked over everything, all day today to try and sort it, and cant get my head round why its doing it.

My camera is broken so cant out any pictures up, im using a 6 channel transmitter that isnt programmable. I can though reverse the throttle on the transmitter and when i do that the swash plate does as it should, but obviously i cant fly it with the thottle back to front.

    Am i missing something.

    Any help much appreciated.

You need to reverse the pitch in the swash mix menu - Which you dont have
Dont think there is any other way around it.
Hopefully someone may have an idea .

            Hey.

Isn't the HK500 CCPM? If so there must be some form of mixing within the transmitter to get the CCPM working on all 3 servos.

Your camera isn't working but can you find a web link of the transmitter you have?

Thanks for the replys, i thought that was the case. Ive gone and bought a DX6i i wanted the DX7 but its a bit expensive at the mo.

That has a menu that allows you to reverse the servos, another way which i found hunting around on the net, is by opening the servo and revesring the wires on the motor and on the board inside. I was thinkin gof giving it a go, but decided for the easier option.

              Thanks guys

                Ian,

No, no, no.... dont resort to opening servos up, really you dont need to go there.

I dont have my DX6 in front of me at the moment but from memory scroll to the last entry in the first menu list, it takes you into a second set of setup options and I think you will find the SWASH MIX in there.

Play around with them using figures of either +60 or -60, you can end up with two at +60 and one at -60, or even all the same value (like all at -60, or +60)

Doing this along with maybe servo reversing in the menu will fix it, honest.

You have to select 120 degrees in the menu before the swash mixing screen appears

BladeStriker is right, select the correct swash type theres only 2 options in the DX6i menu you want 120' degree (3 servos)

Hk 500 same as trex 500 so am guessing same settings ?
BUT, this depends on what servos you are using these are the settings for the align ds 510's

                    AILE + 60
                    ELEV + 60
                    PITCH -60

obviously alter the PITCH negative value to stop the washout base hitting the head block and calm down the AILE & ELEV positive values if you like, these are just the stock settings making your servos go in the correct direction for the swash geometry of this heli.
AILE a positive value, ELEV a positive value, PITCH a negative value otherwise the servos WILL go the opposite way ! (NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH SERVO REVERSING !!!)

                    SERVO REVERSE

                    THRO -
                    AILE - R
                    ELEV - N
                    RUDD -
                    GYRO -
                    PITCH -N

I've left the THRO-GYRO-RUDD channels empty because i dont know what esc/gyro/tail servo you are using......

                    hope this helps

Thanks. I haven't received my dx6i yet, and dont worry i wouldn't be fiddling about with the internals of a servo.

Thanks for all the info you gave me, will be useful when it comes through the post.

                      Many thanks

When you set up your heli on the DX6i, I would suggest not using model memory 1. I did and my tx lost the settings on that memory. It doesnt happen to all 6i's, its probably rare, but just a thought. I put mine on 10 and a copy on 9 just to be safe.
                        Cheers n beers
