It's best to get to know how to do the "correct" setup from the start.
So with zero pitch at mid stick, you should be able to achieve +/- 10 degrees of overall blade pitch. Swash mix for that should be 60% ish on each.
In IDLE UP/STUNT most have a linear pitch curve 0/25/50/75/100, and I'd set a flat Throttle curve 95/95/95/95/95.
For NORMAL mode, you need about -2 degrees of downward pitch, and then use the same pitch curve after mid-stick; like 40/45/50/75/100. Here's where it gets interesting, as the above is pretty much accepted standard. For the throttle curve, I'd start of with something like 0/45/60/75/95 and see what head speed you get. I always liked having a higher headspeed, so you could adjust the Normal throttle curve to say 0/60/75/85/95.

The above is pretty much what I have on my 450SEv2 on a Dx6i, apart from my idle up throttle has a slight U bend to it rather than completely flat, thinking behind it is that with zero pitch at mid-stick, there is no loading/drag on the blades, so less throttle required.
Having said that, it's completely arbitrary at the moment anyway as I am not much past hoving stage anyway and only went into idle up by mistake once
I would agree with having low stick position set to about -2 degrees, stops your heli slamming full pelt into the floor, should you panic and slam left stick shut.
Can highly recommend checking out the Finless Bob video on curves (Curves 101 I think it's called).
If you want any other advice, feel free to ask on here...Growing old is mandatory...growing up is optional!

Hi Mike.Using a Spektrum DX6i. which has been set up for me previously by one of our Druid Heli 3d wizards. But it doesn't feel right now, so I want to go back to the basic newby set up. Edit here, the set up I have is Pitch @ 25/33/51/71/92, normal linear throttle curve. Them's weird figures, can't relate to them, but they were meant to smooth out drastic height changes when applying throttle, and did seem to be an improvement on the manuals figures, but still didn't feel quite right to me. thanks for that Balders, tried to have a look at Finless, got into a non co-operative load of gibberish page or two, got smacked with trojan, so HeliFreaks is a no-no. The minus 2 degrees at L is a definite, tempted to make it just 1 for less of a thud, is it worth it for 1 degree or not ? CheersTrex 450 SEV2.
