  • Engine tuning

Hi guys I've got an align
90h engine and I can't find any refrences on how to tune it rich or lean .any links would be greatly appreciated. Since its new engine ideally is want to run it rich

  • #2
The runing in needle settings should be in the instruction manual.

But, as you say, it will start off rich and you will gradually lean it off over the first gallon or 2.
Life's a bitch and then you fly!!

      Yup
Start rich and gradually lean it out. Feel the temp on the back plate of the engine. Warm it up in flight, land and as soon as safely possible feel the back plate. Rule of thumb is 5 seconds but be careful!!!

Running mine in at the moment. Bottom needle 1.75 turns out, main needle 2 turns out. Loads of smoke and motor is practically cold. Will keep it like this for the next few tanks, and then gradually come in a couple of clicks at a time on the main needle whilst keeping a check on engine temps. Personally I tend to keep my engines slightly rich as they produce plenty of power for what I want. No point running them on the limit unless you are looking for every last ounce of power.

There was a great link on hear about setting the mid needle, might be worth a search on that.
          Cheers,
          Simon

when you say 1.75 turns out is that 1.75 clicks or one whole 360 degree turn and another 300 degree turn?
              cheers

Do yourself a favor and get someone that knows far far more than you to help
It has been and currently still is totally pointless for someone trying to explain to you here

My advice is snap his hand off for the offer and take it up, it will save you time, money and possibly the loss of a limb, these heli are very dangerous if not set up correctly.

Dont run woodies Wasim.. and definately dont take the plastic sleeves off like you 450!! Take the offer up and be safe!

The Align engine tuning should be in the back of the manual. If your over on HF watching finless vids.. theres one on engine tuning/running in but its on a 50, at least you will get the idea!.. its at the bottom but the whole page has usefull vids for you!!
