  • Numpty Align 3G set-up question

I've installed my servos and horns as best as possible but not all cyclic servos are at perfect 90 degrees

I've seen a set-up vid that said i must not use subtrims to level the servos but when looking through the manual

    Step 1.1 enter DIR
    Step 1.2 check swash function

then Step 1.3 mechanical setup...get all sevro arms horizontal...Adjust sumtrims on TX so servo horn is horizontal

So im i right in assuming you do use subtrims but only when in DIR

Thanks for your help (i think i worry too much)

    Cheers

Some will say under no circumstances use subtrim... It was devised by the devil himself, others will say one or two clicks is not a problem, others will say yeah go ahead and use it!

Are you using Align Servos? Its not very often with the Align servo's and Align Servo wheels that you cant get pretty much spot on 90 degree angles.

Make sure your tx is set to mid stick and you have no trim set on any of the sticks. Its sometimes a simple thing like this which can make all the difference in the long run.

Personally i dont use subtrim.. Perhaps i am lucky and managed to get the 90 degree angle each time, but at my level of flying, one or two clicks really cant make that much difference..?

Yes using Align servo and horns...one servo is perfect 90, the other two are just out

      Yes all at mid stick

      Thanks for your advice

With my 550E I couldn't get the supplied horns at 90 degrees as they are only single arm horns, not wheels. I followed the instructions and used subtrim in DIR mode with no problems. Once they are trimmed, the 3G setup uses these points as reference for the remainder of setup so it isn't a problem, there isn't another way of doing it anyway with the supplied hardware.

On my 3G trex 500 setup i use no trim anywhere, if you have a few xtra horns knocking about it 's worth swaping them about you should be able to get it spot on, also use a crows foot type swash leveling tool i am running the gain on the 3G unit at 11 oclock on both ail and ele flys sweet, i have found no need as yet to fiddle with any other settings with the unit link'd to my computer, unless you realy know how you want the 3G to perform i would leave it alone! it pretty much rocks out of the box
