  • My Governor is driving me mad

    People,

Here is a little teaser for the techies out there! I have 2 Align governors on 2 TREX 600s I am using 2 spektrum ar 7000 rx on both helis. They were bought a month apart

I have set both models up the same way, on one model the governor will switch on and off with aux 2 switch which is where both sensor cables are plugged into. The other governor which is set up identically( I even did a cut and paste in the model memory)will not switch on and off unless i change the the initial set set up of the tranny to AUX2 to Aux2 not INH as in the first model. Why is this? i have swapped the governors and they work perfectly. The issue seems to be in the receivers. Is there a way of re setting these? If anyone has any sensible suggestions i would be very grateful. One last thing, should the engine rev up when it gets to 30% throttle? this is quite un nerving as with no input the engine rpm starts to climb. I have followed the set up guide to the letter.

    Thanks in advance.

    Mike

    What Tx are you using?

Have you got the governor function alive in one model and inhibited in the other? You could still be sending the signal to the right channel, just in a different way?

30% is the default engage point
I'm afraid no way to change that.
I spool up in normal mode then switch
to idle up one which is a standard v curve
for flying i land under throttle hold.
You can dissable the govenor if using a three
position switch you can set it up for 18000 head speed
2000 head speed or off completely.

            Gents,
Thanks for the replies. I am using a Spektrum DX7 and 2 Spektrum AR7000 receivers for both models, one rx for each. The models are programmed in two separate memories so there is no cross over of commands as each model is bound to the individual model memory. I assume you can treat this as if you were using to separate tx and rx.

I have connected them identically, one receiver came with the transmitter and the other was bought a month or so later from Slough RC (both DSM2). The only difference is the sticker on the top, although both say the same thing, the word Spektrum is omitted with the on that came with the RX and this is the unit that need the Aux2 set to Aux2 to work not Aux 2 to INH like the other heli.

Ok what are all your settings in the set up side of the transmitter? Mainly in the menu you set AUX2 Inh the gear switch one etc. Also is the AUX2 Rev set?

Set up is 120 ccpm. on one model it is Aux2 to INH in the the other it is Aux 2 to Aux2.This is to get the Aux2 to switch to switch off the governor in each model. Gear is set to Gear no other set up used. Aux 2 is not reversed on either set up, although if you do this on either model it does have the effect of switching off the governer without moving the switch position.

well first off u need to have aux2 set to aux2 and gear to gear...
i use the gear channel travel adjust/end points for my gyro gain and the aux2 for my governor.
Setting it to INH will have it either constantly on or off depending on which way you have the channel reversing.

Thats what i thought, the set up instructions that were posted say that you set Aux2 to INH.

Think about it logically, if its set to INH then how can it see both sides??? ie ON and OFF

Not sure, one heli works as per the instruction set up and the other does not!

I have decided to put both on Aux2 to Aux2 in the initial setup, i know this works on both helis and i get red and green lights when the switch is used.

                              Thanks
