  • pitch curves / new blades

Just changed the blades on my Trex 600, original blades where TT glass, new ones are Torsion 600 CF. My pitch settings have gone weird though, before i had +/- 12 degrees across entire curve, now i have -15 / +7 degrees yet nothing has changed except the blades, is this normal? need advice before i start messing with links.

    Thanks,

That or flybar is not levelled??

In all honesty I've had problems with Torsion blades not tracking right & messing up the pitch settings a little but it sounds too severe to be a blade issue Unless You've got a blade like a banana

You haven't measured the pitch with throttle hold on have you? I have a throttle hold pitch curve set for Autos.. (+10 degs top stick, -4 degs bottom stick.)
      Cheers,

measured in idle up 1, straight line 0-25-50-75-100 so should get full range. going to put old blades on tomorrow and recheck. if it's the same afterwards then think the blades are going back, not ruining my setup for them.

You're not alone there. I've got a set of GF Torsion blades here that wouldn't track the same from one flight to the next. Swapped in some Align blades with no other changes and problem vanished.

I think the reason the Torsions are hard to keep tracked is the CG is quite far back and the slightest play in the control system gets exagerated. I flew them a fair amount last season and also found them a little fussy on blade grip tension in relation to tracking. If you want a softer blade that tracks well the NHP's Agressors are an alternative for sensible money

do torsions suffer from any delamination problems? heard a few things about 700 size blades coming apart on the leading edge?

Got 5hours flying on a set on torsion 690cf on my 700, never had a problem with them, they are as good as the day they went on, i run my grips quite tight aswell

I had 3 pairs of Torsion Cf and could never keep them in track, they would be allright for one flight then out for the next, you could watch them as coming into land go in and out of track. I would never use them again, although some people have excellent results. I fitted 600D's and have never had a problem. Never noticed the pitch being wildly out though. Delaminate, oh yes, I ran a pair into my leg, yes stupid but I didn't expect them to burst apart on the trailing edge the way they did. A guy in the club had a pair fail in flight, spectacular on his Synergy. They must have been faulty as Torsion paid for the replacement heli.
