  • DSX9 and AR6xxx receivers

Many people use DSX9 radio with small, 6-channel receivers and have problem with gyro gain because it has been designed to use exclusively channel #7 where DX6i/DX7 use #5.

Below is a way to overcome this drawback and get work with AR6xxx for gyro gain on GEAR channel (#5) still having the possibility of automatic or manual change of gyro gain. I hope this will be helpful...

Initial remark: If You use only TRAVEL-ADJ on GEAR (#5) - which is also possible - you will have only two settings: one "+" and one "-" which means only one HeadLock and one Rate setting. This is because You can't change a sign of each travel side - You can't make +60 from -100 side. It only allows 0 to -150. Leave TRAVEL-ADJ +100 -100.

    A) SETUP-Menu

    DeviceSEL:
GEAR = GEAR SW (as in standard setting)
AUX4 = FMOD SW (as in standard setting)
INH-ibit GEAR OUT-put (You will not use it either as GEAR nor as GOV-ernor)
    Remark: I've INH-ibited also all other OUT-puts (AUX2, AUX3, AUX4) although it's not necessary

    B) FUNCTION-Menu

You can use any of mixers but #1 and #2 (multipoint) are easier to use than #3 to #6 (read below why).

    1. Using mixers #1 or #2 (multipoint):
Set mixing AUX4-GEAR for Automatic (FMOD switch, 3 values) gain change or GEAR-GEAR for manual (GEAR switch, 2 values) change.
SW ON (always ON), EXP any (no meaning)
Point-0 = gain value for FMOD ST2 or GEAR SW UP
Point-3 = gain value for FMOD ST1 (no meaning for GEAR switch)
Point-6 = gain value for FMOD NOR or GEAR SW DOWN
    Points 1,2,4,5 have no meaning.

    2. Using mixers #3 to #6 (two values) – manual and/or automatic gain change
    Set mixing GEAR->GEAR
Pos0 upper = gain value for GEAR switch UP
Pos0 lower = gain value for GEAR switch DOWN. Important! Here (Pos lower) You MUST use negative value to reverse negative sign of TRAVEL-ADJ. Of course if You don't want to change the gyro gain AND gyro mode at the same time.
Example: if You want to have value +20 and +30 (assuming both HeadLock mode) You set:
    Pos0 (upper) = +20
    Pos0 (lower) = -30
If You like above make another pair of values for Pos1 and on bottom of screen select Pos1 for ST1, ST2 then You will get two sets of sensitivity: one pair for NOR and one for ST1/ST2/HOLD flight mode.
Attention! – HOLD affects Pos0/Pos1 choice if enabled and is supreme to all other assignments - therefore must be Pos1 to NOT change value set if switched on at ST1/ST2. Same with GEAR - it must stay Pos0.
    Finally: NRM=Pos0, ST1=Pos1, ST2=Pos1, HLD=Pos1 (shows if HOLD is available), GER=Pos0.

With this configuration GYRO settings have no meaning/influence.

Check on MONITOR how GEAR (now GAIN ) channels works.

I hope it is readable and understandable....

Ok apologies for being a bit slow, but am i reading this as...

You can just use travel adjust to get two gain settings for the gyro, i.e. 1 rate, 1 hh. If you need more than this then you would do the above.

I can't imagine why you would need more unless a legend of 3d (not me!) so i guess the basic reco would be to just remember to use travel adj for setup?

Thanks or am i missing something?

          Hi Nos...
The reason is quite simple: it's true that with TravelAdj You can have two settings BUT ONLY in opposite modes - You can't have two settings in one mode for example two sensitivities but both in HeadLock. This is so because You can't force sign change of TravelAdj.
I use two different sensitivities (both in HL) - one for sport flying and one for 3D.
