  • mini T & Gu 210 setup

,,so my mate bought himself a mini Titan SE, just about built the frames, then handed me all the bits and wailed "heeeelppp!",,so in and amongst rebuilding my Lepton I've put it all together for him, got it flying sweetly, but I cannot for the life in me get the damn tail set up right, and I have to hold a bit of right stick in to keep her straight
,,he's using a gaui 210 gyro, which I believe is a 401 copy ?,,and a Hitec 5004 mg servo on the tail, the problem I'm getting is, as I'm setting it up in rate mode, I have to hold a bit of right stick in, when fired up, and left alone, the servo "creeps" to full left stick in rate, switch to hh and it centres, but the servo travel just isn't enough, travel adj. are set at 100% each direction, 65% in hh, 45% in rate on the gyro, tx is a DX6i,,,any ideas anyone ?,,,tried trawling the net for info,,but came back blank,,even Finless couldn't help

I have a 210 on my MT 325 and I'm very happy with it. Set it up for no drift in rate first (i.e. no trim or sub-trim), move the tail servo on the boom (or adjust length of rudder rod) until it will hover with the tail in one place and no drift. Now change to HH - if it drifts now you can use trim to stop it.

ok, tried the set-up in rate, the servo still creeps to full left stick if left alone, which makes it difficult to set the push rod length,,,to say the least,,,HH, it centres no problem, but there is a good 4-5 mil less travel on the servo arm, my own mini T has a 401 and s9650 on it, no bother at all, nice and locked in tail, (now I found out what caused the bobbing up & down, previous heavy landing, twisted the tail box around the boom a little, causing the tail rotor to push up a little, I've a cnc tailbox on mine, that dosn't have the positive location that the o/e thunder tiger plastic one does, just rely's on the clamp to keep it in place)

              Swampy,

Are you saying that if you leave the heli stationary with the servo connected the servo will gradually creep to the left ? That doesn't sound right !!! I'll check mine and see if it does the same

              Mike.

in rate mode Mike, if I leave the sticks alone with the heli powered up, (throttle hold on,,'tis a habit I've gotten into since being bitten ) the servo arm gradually creeps towards the rear of the boom,,,switch to HH, and it snaps back to centre, I've set the link rod length so that, in comparison with my own mini T, the tail rotors make the same angle "V" when thry're folded back on themselves,,,just a rough guide to start out from,,,but it is frustrating not being able to get her set up properly, my own mini T flys like a dream, but this bugger I have to hold in a little right stick to stop her spinning, I'm guessing it's something I haven't set right on the gyro, been taught to set them up in rate, until you get a pretty locked in tail, then switch to HH, go from there with the rate on the gyro ?,,,,it's perplexing to say the least, she flys sweetly enough with a little, (and it only takes a gnatswhatsit-hair) of right stick to hold her,,,,,,

                yours, Baffled-of-Huddersfield

                  Swampy

It sounds from your last post that you are back to front on which is rate and which is HH, in rate mode it should centre and in HH it will creep in one direction.

This could be your problem as you are setting up in HH not rate

Yep - as expected, mine is the opposite - stationary in rate, creeps in HH. Easiest way to tell - LED = red then rate, LED = Green the HH

ah,,,,,,,,,thanks fellas, will try that tomorrow evening,,,used to the 401 being solid red in HH, as all my heli's have 401's on them,,think you've sussed it,,,,
