  • New pilot requires basic set up advice

    Hi Guys,

    Hope you are well.
Im new to Helis and just wanted to get some basic info initial set up advice on a new model.
Now i know this has probably been done to death but if you can give me some basic info regarding what does what, throttle pitches, headspeed adjustment, mixing etc.
Its all a bit daunting at the moment and i dont want to have to rely on other pilots to sort my models out!

    Thanks Guys

    Appreciate it

    Hi

    What heli do you have?

The basic stuff, is really quite, uh, basic. For a general idea google rc heli: how it works etc, for specific help, ask specific questions here and almost eveyone will try and help.

    :-)

It would be impossible to answer all that in one go. LOL

One thing is for sure...you will have to rely on other pilots to set up your models. So best join a local club, watch, listen & ask

There is a whole load of help on here, but bit-by-bit is best.

There are also some threads on the forum created that answer a lot of your questions.

All the best with the hobby

There are some good books too - eg Radio Control Helicopters by Paul Tradelius (Air Age Media)

              Hi there

You're not a million miles from me and, whilst I'm no expert, the club I fly at is not far from you and the guys there could help for sure.

I fly at Pirbright, Southern Counties Model Helicopter Club.

Pop down, introduce yourself and I'm sure you'll get sorted...

You have to be a member to fly at the club, but this doesn't stop someone helping you get set up and test flying it for you.

As far as general set-up is concerned, I can maybe help you there. I've built a 500 and 600 and I've been told my set-ups were pretty good when the test pilots flew them.

                Hi!
                Welcome to RCHA Friendly forum.
Martin's offer is excellent - hope you'll grab it.

I have attached a link for Finless Bob's vid - watching it first time may confuse you - so watch it a couple of times. A bit of background info will always help you when you visit a club.

Trex 450 SE and general build videos are here - HeliFreak

                Cheers

Do that. The hours on Saturday are 12-4 and Sunday from 10-2. Sunday's the best day to go tho. I may not be there but there will be at least 6-8 if it,s not raining.

                      guys,

just spent the evening setting up a couple of 450s after following finless bobs set up tips, absolutely stunning and very informative.
Both models were pretty much bob on after following his instructions, even though i got a bit brave and test flew in the garden after 4 peronis!!

                      Thanks Guys
