  • Charging Amps For A 2600mah Battery

Well, I have almost finished setting up my T-rex 500 with the help of people here and midland helicopters (Thanks!)

I have another quick question though. How many amps should i set my thunder power charger at so that i can charge my 6 cell 2600mah battery effectively?

I've currently got it on 20 amps but after 50 minutes the charger is still saying that the battery only has 170mah in it. Seems to be taking a very long time to get to 2600mah. Or is this about right for a new battery?

    Regards
Mike (or if anyone from midland helicopters reads this - the 2nd Mr Harris) lol

If its on at 20amps go and turn it off quick.

    1C would be 2.6A.

The instructions show a picture for a 3s battery with it set to 10A?

I have turned it off though, so what do i need to set it to for a 6s lipo?

      Thanks

2.6 amps is your safest bet.

Haha - I'm such a moron. I've just realised that it was set to 0.20A and not 20A!!

              It's now set at 2.6A

              Thanks

was just about to say... you will have it set to 0.20 A if its taking that long lol.
Set it to 1C or 2.6A if your charging at home.
                Cheers

Charging complete and my trex is ready to fly (i think). Everything appears to be working but i'm to scared to test it now!

Think i might take it to the shop to get it test flown to make sure it works and that i dont smash it up. hehe

Difficult to tell to be honest. I'd had it on for about an hour with it set to 0.20A. After i had reset the charger to 2.6A it took about 20 minutes. Maybe it would have taken about an hour if i'd done it right in the first place! lol

Looks interesting. I shall go through the whole of his 'flight school' bit by bit i think.

I've been using realflight 4.5 for about a month now so didn't think i'd be so nervous about flying it. Now i understand the stress factor that can't be replicated on realflight!

Too right - the sheer terror of the blades spinning up knowing that a crash will certainly hurt your wallet if not your health has to be experienced, especially when its coming towards you...

All I can say, take it easy and it does get easier as you get familiar with it! My instructor upped the headspeed yesterday on my 400 and persuaded me to try idle up - the terror's back again....

I think the noise doesn't help!!!

Keep at it though - its definitely worth it...

That sounds about right mate, i wouldnt worry about it. Will be fine. Just charge from 1C (2.6A) from now on.
