  • Mini Titan se with flybar controls off by 90°

Trying to setup for a friend on a DX8
all looks ok till i tried to take off then i found the controls were off by 90°
elv- forward and the swash tips forward Ail- right swash tips right, pitch up- swash moves down, so all looks ok
but try to take off and the elv controls the Ail and visa versa
The heli has been bought second hand but looking at online manuals it all looks correct.

Any ideas what could be wrong? It's been years since i've setup a flybar heli and i've never come across a problem like this before i'm at a loss

Most Raptor have trailing edge, which is why swash oposite, otherwise reverse value in pitch swash mix if I'm reading correct

according to the manual all is right, the swash moves down for positive pitch and that's normal for this heli.

the problem is the fact that the cyclic is off by 90° pushing the elevator forward on the TX moves the swash down at the front like it should, but the heli reacts to it by adding roll to the left, it's like there is a rotation of 90° in the washout and mixer arms, but i can't see how or what's wrong

No weird cyclic pmix? Dodgy flybar cage pins (I forget the correct name) . Can you post an image?

Sounds daft but have you got the servos in the right channels on the receiver? they would still operate the pitch correctly but the controls would be out of sync like your mentioning. Check the channel outputs in your servo map, its normally shown in the tx or in the manual.

Can't see anything obviously wrong from the pics, but second pic shows swash driver pins nearly out of the bottom block, if thats at max positive pitch it's ok, if it's at zero pitch it's not and they might be riding on top of the block when trying to take off. Maybe an idea to check the length of the links. Also difficult to tell what position the servo arms are in but would expect them to be lower on max pitch, optical illusions and all that from a photo not easy to see . Other than that it looks to be a problem in the Tx set up, maybe some weird mix that's linked to the throttle. You could also try spooling it up to approx lift off rpm position on throttle stick without blades and look at what is happening with the swash when you get give the cyclic sticks some input, or maybe it's a duff servo that only shows up with some revs and a bit of vibration. Best create a new heli model for it in the Tx with 120 degree swash, that should eliminate any possibility of a mix being in the set up.

                  Hi Paul,

I have sent a pm with my DX8 settings and the pictures of the head look correct but I have not seen that swash anti-rotation set up before.

Hi Guys thanks for the replies.
well striped the rx out and did a full reset on the model (TX)
tried Barry's settings but all over the place so the different servos need other reverses.
the only thing i can think of it the head RPM too slow for the flybar to make the right affect, like i said the swash moves correctly to the stick movements, when the rain stops i'll take it out with about 80% on the ESC.

When i ran it up without blades the flybar tips forward with forward elv and right with right Ail so all good there as i said the only thing i can think of is the rpm???

Is the swash set for HR3 in the transmitter? It's normally 120 CCPM for flybar which is HR3 in a Futaba.

I think leading edge on flybar is swash opposite. Trailing edge is swash normal.

It flys LOL it was as i thought with only 50% on the ESC upping it to 80% and the flybar has the authority it needs.

                          Thanks for all your help
