  • suitable flybarless unit for goblin 700 comp

hi guys, got 700 built, now saving up for electrics, just wondered if mini v-bar would be fine to use as some say only use on smaller heli? mine is the norm 2 bladed, I use at the minute a Gpro on my 450 dominator with no issues at all and logged 800 plus flights since started in feb, but also looking at the MSH brain, could people throw some light on what they are using on this size heli and ease of setup, also I am using a futaba 14sg.
    cheers
    paul.

As your Gpro already could be worth just sticking to the same...!

You can use the mini V on a 700 no problem at all. Know nothing about the G pro or Brain so can't say much about them

The mini Vbar will work fine but the full size Vbar can make hooking up all the connections on a large heli easier as it has more sockets. Truth is any FBL controller will work so it's more about personal preference/familiarity than anything else. You might want to consider a controller with rescue functionality of which the Spirit pro is arguably the best bang for buck at the moment (pre-order for end of month delivery)

I've heard comments that the mini vBar power bus isn't the best if you're using power hungry servos, wouldn't the Neo be a better bet?

Yep depends on servos tho. Neo would be golden.

Whatever you do, stick a system and stay with it. You improve faster if your machines feel the same...

Seeing as its a 700, i would put a opti guard on whatever system you decide to use as backup anyway. you can also search the forum for numerous threads and setup help and been discussed on numerous times.
its proven that most systems are very capable in the right hands, and just a case of queaking to get the desired feel.

thanks for the reply's guys will give it some thought, regarding the NEO doesn't that need a v control radio or have I misunderstood it as I did look at that one.

if you buy and neo with built in rx is for vbar control, neo minus rx is suitable for other radios i.e. s bus and spectrum satellites etc

                      Paul,

Just to make sure that you know that with the Neo to get all the features enabled, including the key 'rescue' functionality that most buy the Neo for, you have to fork out an additional £73 on top of the basic £140 (non-vcontrol version) price. This makes it quite expensive compared to the likes of the Spirit which have all the features enabled out of the box (£137 for the standard Spirit or £145 for the Pro).

Of course some still think them great value at that price and that's fair enough, as long as you are aware of the extra £73 you need to pay to get all the features to work.
