  • change of servos on rebuild, all to ****

    Hi all

Right, I have a Twister 3d storm, not that that matters as last year I swapped out the OE radio for a Spekky dx6i. Despite it being a case of changing the receiver, It took me a couple of evenings to get it all going in the right direction.

A month or more ago, I went big and went home after I drove said heli in the floor, alas, upon impact, a couple of the kit cyclic servos went out to lunch, and having a Savox 0256 on the tail anyway and another sat spare in my box, I thought, do I buy another oe servo or another 2 savox'? Considering I was doing a ground up rebuild, I went with the latter.

Now, I'm having the same issues I had in my first paragraph, though this time it is servos I have changed and not the receiver. I have got to the stage where elevation goes in the right direction, as does Aileron, however, it all goes pete tong when I apply throttle, the servos pull the head down as opposed to pushing it up.

I have tried various combos of servo reverse, swapping servo plugs round and even accidentally reversed the throttle this evening, and even though it was on throttle hold, it spooled up and I caught my thumb nail on the blades, which split the nail in two ways, bled and is now very sore, or was, took two tramadol and it's worn off a bit, but I digress.

    any ideas chaps? ta muchly

If you throttle up and the swash goes down that is actually correct for a twister storm

watch the the leading edge of the blade it should rise, if not you have rebuilt with the blade grips reversed

set throttle hold or better still disconnect the motor then

move the throttle stick up and down. all three servo's should move together,as you raise the stick the swash should fall. as you lower it the swash should rise.( if there is a problem go to the reverse menu in the set up list and alter the pitch/airl/elev servo's till they all work together in the same direction.

      now the right stick.
      stand behind the heli.
each movement of the right stick should move the swash the same. eg forward tilts the swash forward etc. if you have a problem go to the swash mix menu. you will see the 3 values set with either a + or - %
if the swash tips back instead of forwards change the value of the elev mix to opposite what it is now set at(eg from +60% to -60%)
if the swash tips right instead of left change the airl value to opposite.
if the swash tips at an angle when you apply forward stick change the pitch mix value to opposite

        Cheers guys

Swash mix menu didn't even cross my mind.

I'm sure on my 3d Storm, the swash goes up when throttle is applied, but I've heard the plain ol' Storm model is as you say, it goes down when throttle is applied.

Pretty certain blade grips are the right way round as the moulding has an m3 nyloc shaped recess underneath.

Thanks guys, will try the swash mix later on today.

Lol, ok, my bad. Just looked at the heli I've only owned for 2 and a half years, and yes, you're right, the swash comes down. Why did I think it went up? Problem all sorted now.
