      Hey all,

      I've just registered here

I'm looking to get back into this hobby, and am thinking about buying one of the Hobby King 500 clones (simply because ALIGN stuff is far too expensive when I rarely fly).

Did this event ever take off - pardon the pun? This would be great for me to get back into heli flying, have people check over my setup etc...

          Wow good to know.

Well it looks like I'll be buying a couple of HK500GT clones in the near future, sort of an xmas present to myself

Well whether we go for this Venue or not your more than welcome too come over and fly with us. Either locally or at the club field. Initial thoughts are its going too be too costly. We have the permission and the venue is more than adequate but its just a pricing issue. Something we initially thought they might have met us half way with.

Oh I see. What were they asking?

Cool, where is your club site mate? I used to fly at Gosforth Park (electric only), Town Moor and very occasionally Blyth (but it's ALWAYS stupidly windy there).

More often than not, I just took my 450 HDE into the front garden to hover, or go to the local playing field to err, hover higher (I'm no pro yet )

Hi mate... the location for it was going to be South Tyneside Leisure Centre which is located on Temple Park field just off the John Reid road in South Shields. As far as im aware we still have the opportunity to do some flying there but it has to be booked in advance. We worked out that for it to be worth while that only a certain number of people could fly there. Also me personally i wasnt happy with the prices. Basically we would have needed to hire 2 or 3 courts which makes up the large hall. Cant remember exact figures right now as it was another guy i fly with that exchanged emails/chat with the guy that runs the place. But basically too have the place from 1pm - 5/6pm was going too cost too much IMO. I thought they may have given us a bit more discount with the hall not getting used at certain times but obviously that discount wasnt good enough IMO anyways.
I am flying at Boldon Colliery Model Aircraft Club at the moment but i also have a field about 800m from my front door which i also fly on. Very handy for testing/tweaking
Heres the club website:- Boldon CAMAC Home page
The club site is located behind Chuter Ede School which is off Galsworthy Road or Benton Road in Biddickhall Estate, South Shields. They also have access too a field in Boldon Colliery just across the road from Boldon Comp School but it is mainly used by glider guys. Heres the main field (look at the second field just down from the school) - http://www.multimap.com/s/iDTtCdht
The other field i frequent beside my house is just off Temple Park field but it is not owned by the council and why i can fly there - http://www.multimap.com/s/ggb0YrHW

Apologies Lee, I've only just seen this last post. Seems a shame like, I've always really wanted to try indoor flying. The idea of guaranteed flat calm atmosphere is brilliant, especially for learning

Looking at the club pics, you guys have a great flying site. Tarmac for rolling takeoffs, must be nice!

I'd really like to come down and meet you guys some time if possible. I really think that if I'm going to get into the hobby, that I should rejoin a club and get advice etc. I've never even gotten my B certificate (or is it A, the basic one anyway...).

What days are best to go?

Well this is what happens when you try a little bit 3d indoors

My first and last trip too Soccerena indoor Im never happy with just tootling about lol.
Although not completely down too pilot error either. Down too a link that popped off on the tail when i was inverted. Got a bit of a shock which resulted in bad collective management and it hit a girder in the ceiling lol

The lighting was erm strange in the Soccer Arena but full kudos to Stuart for getting it for nothing !

Yeh plus torque tube gears/boom/undercarriage/carbon boom support and it took out 2 of the Align 410M servos too. Its the Radix and servos that are the killer. Might not have been so bad but the girders are obviously steel and the ground was astro turf. So although quite bouncey still a hard landing compared too if it went in on grass. Probably the girder that took out the servos TBH.
