Soccarena - Indoor Flying Open Day...

I had a meeting today with client's who own an indoor football arena in the Northeast of England (Durham).

They are generally always booked up throughout the week between 6pm till 10pm but have plenty of capacity during the daytime and say Saturday's.

So in our discussions they are willing to look at an open day for Indoor Rc Heli flyers - CX2, 450's to 500's to use there facilities on hopefully a regular basis.

Obviously a charge will be incurred if the indoor event takes off but given that we sometimes struggle to find venue's this is an excellent facility and loads of space and would be ideal for an indoor club to startup with.

They are very keen to see it work. Unfortunatley there website is a bit dated but is on the list to be re-done.

So if anyone is interest please PM me or post and I will liase with the owners to arrange a date and time.

Space wise we are talking about two dedicated sections that are aprox 62m long x 23m wide in space. More than enough for a serious indoor session.

Maybe an opportunity for a little indoor funfly event also.....

Just a footnote you will need BMFA insurance - also as there two sides one could in theory be doing heli's and the otherside slowfly. Plus being a football arena height isn't too much of an issue.

i visit my stepmom in middlesbrough twice a year so would be nice to have somewhere like that to dissapear to for a few hours.

The idea of the open day is to get as many flyers to the day and see collectively what they want. I was there today and to be frank if you went on your own and wanted to book a pitch just to fly your cx2 or 450 provided your insured I doubt they would have an issue. My view would be that if its empty then to get some revenue is better than nothing. The aim is to fill the hours that its not being used and the likes of a saturday morning monthly, weekly or fortnighly would I'm sure be appealing to them.

It's all up for discussion.

My oldest Ben with his CX2 is itching to get across now and I have a work colleague with his CX2 also, but its ideal for much more.

So if the interest is there we will put a date in the calendar, be it heli's or slow flys it can accomodate both.

I'm completely new to the hobby so I'd be very interested in turning up even if it was just to pick up some tips and advice! I work away for half the year but could definitely be counted on to turn up when home. Cheers for the info.
