  • FBL ,... Am I backwards :-S

After flying my t Rex 600 with it's total G equipped Fbl system today for about it's zillionth flight it was pointed out to me that I have the blade grip links on the trailing edge of the blades.
This is due to me using the 600 LE rotor head with the Mikado conversion ( blade grip arm extensions) so the word Align is on the top of the blade grip.

So it flys ok but has always had an odd wobble, do I flip the grip , and go for leading edge control or not?

    Confused as always
    X Rachel

It shouldn't make any difference which way you have the grip links.

As for the wobble most likely headspeed/dampener/fbl mounting or settings related. Got a vid? :)

Leave alone like Glenn said Rachel .. Have you tried another fbl unit on it to rule the totalG out ?

Tried different pads to see if its mounted to hard/soft ?

          Setting somewhere needs changing ??

Shape's come with trailing edge as standard along with quite a few other helis. The only differences I can see is if you have slop in your system, hence why some older helis had an issue.

Thanks guys :eagerness: I have tried mounting options and none have made much difference, not that it's a real problem the baby Rex is top fun to fly, it just has an odd shimmy around the Mao shaft, sort of a wobble and a shake sideways in the tail . I am fairly sure it's vibes and I was thinking about putting the fbl on the tail case.

I just found it odd it was a trailing edge set up.
There was a video on the Curtis website of a total g set up on a 600 ,but it's gone.

                Happy flying

You got a pic Rach of the grips?

If its supposed to be leading edge and you got trailing edge then I would have thought it will give issues. I set up a ail once with trailing edge and kept losing the tail, swapped it around and hey presto :)

That's why I asked for the pics as it was gettIng confusing.

If the Heli is meant to be leadin edge then change the grips around. It will cause some issues but I would not know what as I not had it myself.

Sorry but why would it cause issues? As long as the heli has the pitch the right way and otherwise the mixing remains the same there should be no difference. The conversion is quite well known and having trailing edge control is ok.

                              No need to apologise.

I don't know and don't pretend to understand it but it did Ona tail set up, Rex 600le.

They are leading or trailing edge for a reason I thought.

I will find a technical answer tomorrow.
