  • 1st Invirted AutoRotation !!!!

After a fab flyin at Enfield I spent yesterday in a howling gale (ok just a bit of wind) with my clubmates at the Stafford club .
One of the top guys , Roger had a nice flight and pulled off a nice inverted auto so me being me and my team mate Laurence showing me how its done on Sunday i thought I would have a go. :ack2:

So a climb to a reasonable height and roll to invirted hit hold, add pitch as its the wrong way up watch it drop and some back cyclic to keep him moving forward , down to about 40 feet and push forward with the cyclic in a forward flip and piro round to nose in and land :):):)

Applause from my friends and its over my first invirted auto and it was perfection :):svengo:

Now I should have left it at that but how do you practice if you dont fly ????
so another go , to be honest wrong from the get go :(
I thought about what I was doing , big mistake and totally screwed it up , restult 50% sucess rate and a broken heli, whoops

Hey ho , thats life , shame about the 4 day old Fusano Canopy.

Keep flying and keep trying lol

Nice going Rachel, well done :)

The silver lining is that atleast you were trying something new and practicing it to glory. Get him fixed and back up where he belongs.

Well done Rachel - shame about the 2nd one - but hey I bet you were still well pleased with your first inverted auto! I can only dream of such things.

        Cheers,

Well done Rachel. I know how scary they are to do after seeing the whiteness in Laurence's face on his first attempts. Wish I was brave/skilled enough to even think of doing them.

Ahhhh, I knew you could do it, your first one sounds very fancy with a flip and piros, I didn't do that until like 5 roll ones at least (and plenty more on the 450!).

Shame about your second one :( Did it land on the skids a bit hard or inverted :(.

Well done Rachel, yeah ill testify to how puckering they are when you start doing them, who am I kidding I still find them puckering. cos when they go wrong they are spectacular.

I was well lucky yesterday, I was having a go at autoing my 550, Im amazed how well they auto, then I decided to to this long sliding auto, unfortunately being egged on by mates Igot too cocky and of course messed it up and tipped it and it cartwheeled a little, anyway thats not the lucky bit the lucky bit was picking it up without a single thing wrong with it., checked it over cleaned off the mud and flew it again....RESULT!
                  All the best

sort of plumeted down on the head !!!!
oddly enough the only damage was head links , blades, new canopy (sob) and new tail fin but oddly nothing else ???? no mainshaft or feathering spindle damage .

Think it might be a while before I try again , but the first one was fab what a High !!!! almost better than chocolate .

What I dont get is how you roll out of inverted without using all the headspeed up, whenever I've tried it by the time its back to RWU its almost a blade stop & I've had to TH back out of it.

Ive watched people do it and they all seem to generate far more headspeed than I can ever get, are you in FF when you hit the switch or just dropping from a hover?

I was in the hower invirted so here is how i did it (the one that worked ) lol

climbed to about 100 ft and roled to invirted

got stable in the hover and flicked in to hold.

Added posative pitch !!!!!!!! remember you are upside down,.

control the decent with the pitch and I added a little back stick to keep it moving forward.

I then pusted forward on the cyclic hard at about 40 ft and pulled the pitch back to mid stick , this really wound the head up :-) and flipped it upright.

A half piro on the tail and land .

                        Simples !!!!!! no Bl**dy way 2nd try = bits

My advice try it on the sim a million times first.

have fun as for a roll out I am told its easier that way ?!!!???!!!! yea right .

                        lol rach

Having now watched alot of people doing iNverted it seams to me there are a couple of ways people are doing it either flip it over close to the ground which looks really spectacular but even the really good pilot do seam to loose alot of headspeed and they have to still get it on the deck fairly fast. the other way is the only way I can do it, which is doing the roll high enough to get the tail down and get back some of that speed. but its definately very fine control and feel for getting it right.

yes the push forward on the cyclic wound the head up I had loads of hang time I fact I had to drop pitch to land ?!!!
only got it right once though ;-)
