• Watch from dad

Got a present from my dad he said he was clearing out his draws and found a watch that he has never worn and said I could have it. Its Tag Heuer Carrera Calibre 16 looks quite nice.

One of my guys at work his Dad has recently gave him the same watch (well not THAT one, but you know what I mean), maybe you have a long lost brother? Very nice watch (Being a bit of a collector of expensive watches). Probably too good for you Pete LOL, maybe you should sell it to me for the price of a burnt out 2x 6s with a metal spike through them?

Reasonably sought after, so you should be able to get £1000 ish (I think that are around £2500 new at a decent Jewellers) maybe more with the right person, but it will probably take time to sell. You could put it through one of the watch brokers who try to sell it for you but they do take some commission. I of course would give you £20.00 hard cash on Saturday.....

it all depends on condition, authenticity,(not doubting it for one second but others always will), papers, box etc.
A lovely watch indeed. Just got my tag classic 2000 back after a service and new battery. must say i do like the carrera calibre 16
new its more like £3.500 and used i would be happy to pay £1500 for a good one with a recent service.
I intend selling my classic 2000 soon as i have my eye on a carier calibre with rose gold like the one below.
i nearly bought it heavily discounted before xmas in manchester but i thought i would wait for a preowned in the future

i think its a lovely phrase and applies to any watch that means something.
Congratualtions on getting such a lovely gift :)

I have always thought that was a very apt saying. I have a pocket watch and chain given to me by grandfather who's dad owned it (My great-grandfather). Very special to me.
Got a bunch ranging from a TAG Carrera RS through Audemars Piguet Classic Tradition to Maurice Lacroix Les Classiques phase De Lune to my current favourite, my Breitling Chronomat Evolution B13356.
Other than my Breitling the others only come out on special days, I have only one wrist to wear a watch so they sit on auto winders in a cabinet

Wow that is an impressive collection.
What winders do you use?
I am getting fedup of my rapport winders getting noisy after just a few months.
My nicest watch is my 125th anniversary Breitling cosmonaute no 194/1000
It has the air racer bracelet and I love it.

Thanks, very nice Breitling (feel like we are hijacking Pete's thread). I have 2 rapport duo and you can hear them but it's not intrusive. Do like the look of the watch winder cabinets, but sheesh they're expensive
