  • Anybody else notice?

I drive 13 miles through the countryside to work every day, something i enjoy. However, what really is starting to **** me off is the "police aware" tape. The Rozzers are very quick to pull out their roll of tape to mark up another vehicle parked up in a convenient hedge, but not very "aware" of removing said tape when the vehicle has been recovered. There are now 9 sites on my 13 mile journey where this "police aware " tape is littering the countryside. Some of these crash sites are over 6 months old, so obviously the police have no intention of cleaning up their mess. Just driven in totally the opposite direction to go to my local modelshop, and there are 5 of these sites on that route. Seems like double standards to me, walk passed the old bill and chuck something down on the ground, be it a fag butt or crisp packet and the odds are you will get done £75 for littering, yet they pollute the countryside with what seems to be impunity.

What does everybody else think about this practice?

I think that due to the cuts the Police are facing they couldn't care less...
I'd rather have them leave a bit of tape in a hedge than waste time and money by sending to Bobbys to do it whilst they could be stopping Dorris from being mugged outside Asda :)

Yep, this was one avenue i was thinking of exploring ,or one of the local radio stations. If i had to approach the police about it i can see myself getting the right royal run around ,ie, its not part of our local policing area, its xyz's.....

The police around these parts are more likely to die of boredom, we have very little crime on the whole.Saturday mornings must be the highlight of their week attending the aftermath of Friday nights parking in hedges session:lemo:

They need to take notice of a sign resently used by a woman in Stamfordham, Northumberland.

Problem with the particular road in question is that its fairly windey with very few places to park up safely.Dont really think i should be taking my life in my hands to clean up the police's mess, do you?

Think that could be used with a few additions. :devilish: "Dont be a tosser, Rozzer. Take your litter home"

Don't think I'm defending the cops here, but I do know that when the vehicle has been taped off as in your examples, then the next agency to visit that vehicle will be the the duty garage/recovery firm, , and it is they who get paid (after bidding for recovery contracts worth a small fortune), to remove EVERYTHING from the scene, including the tape. The same applies to crashes on the roads. When the duty garage attends to remove the undriveable vehicles, they are paid to clean up all the debris, but often don't.
                        Just my 2 cents

Now we start to get somewhere. Thanks for that bit of info,. something i wasnt aware of. Another angle to deal with this issue, because the chances are there is only one recovery company in these parts.....

and it saves the police forces coppers in the budget :biggrinjester:

Someone with your wealth of life experience should know that the magical cure for imbibing too much on a friday night can be found lurking under the hedges just past yonder bend in the country road....Only available for about 30 minutes after last round is called.Just don't try it on your R1.I had an argument with a barbed wire fence many years ago, having come off a bike due to enthusiasm outweighing experience.Trust me on that one....
Think it might also be a defect in small car like apparations, normally about p reg or earlier. You know the type. The one that doubles in value if you put a quarter tanks worth of petrol in it.....
