      mart,

you have already found a great app "facetime" im sure you will be using that alot....

apart from what everyone has already mentioned, log into app store via your ip4 and browse throught the top 25 free apps.... alot of the paid apps have a demo version in the free app section.... there some great stuff in there

      angry birds - 59p
      lets golf 2
      ridge racer
      time crisis 2
      fruit ninja - 59p
camera+ - 59p - the best camera program of all
      flight control - 59p
      mirror edge's - free
      fruit ninja lite - free
sky+ - set recordings whilst away from home - free (brilliant)

there are so many games and apps that are great just depends on your taste, there something for everyone in the app store... and some are as low as 59p.

      hope this helps

      thanks

      Ian

I'm not (intentionally at least :D) turning this into another phone flame thread, but my dad and mom both just got android phones: HTC Desire and a Sony Ericson Xperia. Although the Android OS is 10x less restrictive, I still prefer my iPhone 4. Maybe it's just what I'm used to, but the iPhone is just sooo much smoother and faster running. The touchscreen on the android is stuttery and sometimes unresponsive.

Free apps I'd recommend on the iPhone:

          Remote
          Shazam
          Around me
          MSN
          Skype
          Word Lens
          Solitaire
          VLC
          iPhone.TVcatchup.com (just a bookmark)
DI Radio (Digitally Imported, great if you love trance music)
          FreeAppADay
          RDP Lite
          eBay
          MyO2
Spotify (although the app is free, you need a premium subscription to use it)
          and of course, Facebook :D

I have a few others but you only asked about free ones :D

Mart glad to hear you like the Iphone 4, me however I hate it nearly as much as I do the wife. I have the Samsung Galaxy S now and its what the Iphone is trying to be and with the latest 2.3.1 android software..... Its great.

We also have the headspeed app and a rotor pitch calulator app.

Sky + (I couldnt live without it)
Skype (But I think they're going to start charging for calls soon)
                    Angry Birds (I'm addicted)
Dropbox (saves using space on your phone)
Red Lazer (I just love a barcode)
Shazam (ok but the free version is limited, Smoothound is free and just as good)
                    Google Goggles (very clever)
Photoshop PS Express (useful for editing pics before you send them)
                    Met office (weather)
Highways Authority (good live traffic info)
Ringtones (create your own rigtones from your music library)
Crayon Physics (its not free but its so addictive its worth it)

I was going to pay for the iMovie maker app but having read the reviews it takes a long time to render so havent bothered.
