• Looking for beginner plane

Hi all, I know nothing really about rc planes, I know how to fly them and that's about it, I don't know brand names or what's good or what's bad,

What I am looking for is a decent plane for when my 450 is in bits, just something to chuck around on fields near me, would like proper undercarriage, so can take off and land properly, also I would like to be able to use my 3s 2200mah lipos, looking at around £100 less if possible lol

Would also like one which could do loops and basic aerobatics, not like the trainer model on Phoenix lol
Any ideas?

Thanks:cheers2:

You wont go far wrong by taking a look at the Parkzone bnf range of planes ;)

I agree with tiddler, the new parkzone stuff is great they have managed to get a good quality nice flying package all for the right money. However the parkzone stuff that I am aware of is predominantly scale so there are certain limitations to the flight characteristics. Manovoures such as flying knife edge are difficult for example

Bearing this in mind I would say go for the ST MX2

Inwood Models : ST MODELS MX2 ARTF, INC 4X SERVO, MOTOR, ESC, PROP New [KIST050] - £99.99

This is gonna be a bit more tricky to fly than the PZ stuff and the undercarriage is known to be weak (but is fine after its been reinforced - plenty of posts on it if you google). It will also fly on a 3S 2200mAH battery so is perfect for 450 owners. Not sure if it will prop hang but it will generally do what you ask of it knife edge, stall turns etc due to large control surface areas and a fuesalage shaped for acrobatics.

I was looking at getting a Parkzone Trojan T28 myself but have since changed my mind (for the reasons stated above) and my finger is hanging over the buy button for the MX2 :D

Yup the T 28 wont do a knife edge easily, if at all tbh. But it does most other stuff brilliantly :)

Love mine........ But then I really like the scale look, so I am a bit biased.

Mind you I wouldn't say no to an MX2 either ;)

Yea I agree the only answer is both lol :D

I like the scale look as well although I have just taken delivery of a micro SU26XP which I will give a flight tomorow. Ill see how it goes after Ive flown this for a bit but I can see an MX2 comming next and then a scale plane. Oh and ive just bought an ATOM 500. Im in model heaven :D

Thanks all for replies, that mx2 looks pretty good, seen some good reviews about it on the net also, looks like that may well be my next purchase, tried prop hanging on Phoenix earlier, my f@ckin word how hard is that lol!!!!!

Practice on Phoenix at the mo is around an hour on heli and half hour plane to finish it off, planes seem a little easier at the moment, so is the mx2 with reinforced under carriage ok for beginner, with sim time?

Very true graham, not crossed over Jason, i am still staying with helis as I always will and loge flying them, just want something to fly in the fields up near me, and something to fly if, or rather when I crash the 450, to me mate it's not the dark side, it's just the other side of of this great hobby, bloody hell, I've never understood why heli flyers and plank flyers can't get on, as there seems more and more doing both these days!!
