  • Save TopGear - The Petition

As you must all be aware of by now, following Richard Hammonds near fatal crash on wednesday evening, the bbc are threatening to pull the plug on TopGear. An online petition has been created. If you feel as strogly as i do about this, then please sign up, show support, and pass the link around.

On another note, you may or may not be aware that pistonheads have created an online fundraiser for the yorkshire air ambulance, the guys that airlifted Richard following his accident. I've donated to show my support for Richards recovery, as a way of saying thanks to both the YAA, and also in thanks of Richards work thus far. The original target to hit was £350, to cover the cost of his rescue. the total at the moment has just passed £75'000!

p.s. hope you dont mind this thread Stuart, if you do, then please feel free to remove it and contact me :)

This is the typical response in britain nowadays, if someting goes slightly wrong then lets ban it, axe it or stop it. Were the hell did the term 'accident' go. Before long we're going to be living in a clinically sanitised & so called 'safe' country, we might aswell have let the nazi's have control in the 40's.

Secondly I wish Richard Hammond a quick & full recovery.

Just checked the table again, now up to over £149,000

As a passenger in an Air Ambulance 6years ago, I have to say I have always supported our local service, and until this year attended the charity motor cycle ride, now bikeless, more difficult to attend the ride but I will support this good cause when I can.

On the subject of Top Gear, love him or loathe him, Clarkson has a way of putting into words what most of us are thinking, Keep it up Jeremy, and lets see Top Gear on the TV for years to come.

Finaly, as others have already said, Speedy recovery "Hamster", look forward to seeing you lonside the others shortly

I wrote to the BBC about this as I think TopGear is a completely unique and compelling show which makes TV bearable.

Best wishes To Richard and his family.

If the correct safety procedures were not followed, Richard would not still be here now.

Long live Top Gear and speedy recovery to the 'Hamster'.

hope he has a bloody accident, and needs an ambulance, someone tells him its on its way, and just before he snuffs it, they wisper
