• How do I....

    ...upload a photo to a post?

Tried using upload image icon, but it asked for a URL. So I uploaded photo into member's galleires and copy & pasted from there, but didn't work:(

Sorry about stupid question, but us old buggers just can't get to grips with computers:D

    Cheers

I've not quite managed to get large images in a post but in 'Additional Options' below the 'reply to thread' box, you can attach files. Just press the 'manage attachments' button and go from there.

If your on Windows you can do simple resizes in paint . Open the file up in paint and go to the Image menu and select Attributes . That will let you resize .

If you are running windows, try right clicking the file in windows explorer and selecting edit.
The file should open in microsoft paint (:puke:)
Select Image from the menu bar and then attributes. You can resize from there. 800 by 600 or 1024 by 768 are good starting points.

                Lol, I'm too slow :D

Using Imageshack to upload is a piece of cake once you do it the first time .

Go to browse , pick file and click upload .

Once its uploaded the next screen gives you a load of options . Depending on what forum software your posting to depends on which link you need to use and also how the post will appear .

Thumbnails for Forums 1 is the one that works here .

You can also use the forums imaging function by clicking the insert image button and pasting the imageshack Direct Link into the box .

A lot of forums like you to use the first approach which is thumbnails as it takes less time for the pages to load for people with slower pcs .

Imageshack also do a plugin for forums the admins may like that allows you to upload directly from the forum . Works with VBulletin to boot :p

                        Thanks again all!

I've tried Imageshack and am now completely stumped!!:ack2: I now have my photo on there, but don't understand what I'm doing at all! Clicked "Link to this page" and am now flummoxed! Getting annoyed so I think I'll pass on that one!

Tried attributes in Paint, as I thought that would be simplest, but it seems to resize from top left of the picture and I lose all the rest! Just end up with abit of sky on the screen:ack2: Don't know if this will be how the image is saved, and as I couldn't see how to save it as a new file didn't dare save it as I didn't want to lose the original!

Thanks Lee, I'll have a look at infanview - knowing me I probably won't be able to use that either:D

Don't you just HATE computers!!:puke: Still at least I can give you all a laugh on this lovely summer morning:smilielol5:

Once your pic is uploaded you need to look down the imageshack screen to the options it gives you . You will see "Thumbnails for forums 1" and a box containing a line of code . Copy the code and paste it into the forum post . Dont worry the forum knows what it is . If you click preview post you should then see the picture in a clickable thumbnail like the one I linked above .
