Hang gliding world championships

For those of you interested I'm off to Mexico representing UK later this week.

We will be carrying live tracking devices and the Mexicans seem to have generated quite a lot of media interest. There will be lots of news from them here:

In the last world championships I placed 15th of 104, second Brit and the Brit team took Bronze.
In January I took a 3rd place in the Australian National Championships and this raised my world ranking to 5th.
This is my 8th world championships. My best places were 5th in 1999 and 5th again in 2009.
I'm hoping to do really well this time.
For the team result the best three pilots each day from our team of six count. We have three of us equally as good as each other and the others pretty good, so we stand a good chance in the team event.

Wow! nice one! I used to fly paragliders at Uni, 20-odd years ago. I tried hang-gliding too but was too lazy to lug the equipment up those Welsh mountains! Paraglider much easier! :) Ah, the summer evenings at Rhossili :D

Good luck mate. Out of interest, as it's not really my thing, what does hang gliding competitions actually entail? That's not supposed to be a stupid question I genuinely wondered what sort of things you have to do?
