Colour Laser Printer Advice

Initial thoughts were a cheap-ish £200 job with wireless, but I noticed that some of these are said to be capable of handling glossy [/COLOR][COLOR=#333333]photo paper[/COLOR][COLOR=#333333][/COLOR][COLOR=#333333][/COLOR][COLOR=#333333]. I still have some glossy [/COLOR][COLOR=#333333]photo paper[/COLOR][COLOR=#333333][/COLOR][COLOR=#333333][/COLOR][COLOR=#333333] left over from when I had an [/COLOR][URL="http://www.amazon.co.uk/-/dp/B0000C7950"]inkjet photo printer[/URL][COLOR=#333333][/COLOR][COLOR=#333333][/COLOR][COLOR=#333333], which I binned because the inks just dried up when not in use so it was uneconomic.[/COLOR]

[COLOR=#333333]Just wondering if [/COLOR][COLOR=#333333]laser printers[/COLOR][COLOR=#333333][/COLOR][COLOR=#333333][/COLOR][COLOR=#333333] these days can pass as [/COLOR][COLOR=#333333]photo printers[/COLOR][COLOR=#333333][/COLOR][COLOR=#333333][/COLOR][COLOR=#333333] and if so what your experience and recommendations are? If not, would be glad to get any feedback on colour [/COLOR][COLOR=#333333]laser printers[/COLOR][COLOR=#333333][/COLOR][COLOR=#333333][/COLOR][COLOR=#333333] that you have and whether printing over WiFi is a faff or a doodle (I never got it to work on my "old"/dead[/COLOR][COLOR=#333333]Samsung colour wireless[/COLOR][COLOR=#333333][/COLOR][COLOR=#333333][/COLOR][COLOR=#333333] laser.)[/COLOR]

I think inkjet is still the best printer for the money for printing photos. Many laser printers look good value to start with, but check how much toner is in the cartridges supplied, quite a few of the cheaper ones are supplied with cartridges that only contain half or less toner than the refills.

In terms of printing photos I think its just easier/cheaper/better to get the done professionally.. theres even online services you can just upload them to and photos come through the post.. or go any shop and some supermarkets get them printed.

Neither inkjet or laser will come close to having them done properly.

A good laser printer can print good photos but since they use toner rather than ink, the toner will have its own shine to it (since toner is actually tiny plastic particles that get melted to the surface of the paper, which is why paper comes out hot).

and just like inkjets, new toner cartridges are very expensive... although there is refill kits and compatibles available.


As for wireless printing - I've found this to be hit n miss.. some printers connect to the internet and you basically email the printer something to print. Others work without the internet over your own wifi connection. Getting this to work reliably is tricky in my experience

I've recently paid just shy of £200 for 4 toners for my hp laserjet 200 for approx 1500 pages of print.

Colour Laser Printer Advice

I was looking for something similar earlier in the year, in the end I stuck with inkjet and bought an Epson WP 4535, it more like an office all in one and is a big thing but the ink cartridges are huge making it one of the cheapest to run, certainly cheaper than the laser printers I was looking at. Five months in and it's still on the original supplied ink. Works with USB, Ethernet or WIFI and even my wife likes it.

I should add it will print on photo paper and produce OK results, just not as good as the dedicated photo printers, but as has been said before use the online services for the best and cheapest printing
