  • hello from st helens

hello all im alan from st helens , been playing with heli,s over 12 months now but stuck to fp so far .

    i have a walkera 38b , walkera v120d02 , trex 6oo nsp , wk-2801 rx , and dx7 rx , ps i also have a cessna plane ;-) .

im looking to hook up with anyone local for help with seting up few things as i cant get the 68b off ground without it spinning out of control , also the v120d02 has been smashed a few times as it has mind of its own , my trex 600 is staying new untill i am confident flying the other 2 helis as i also have a funkey airwolf kit on order as i want to build the trex 50 size airwolf in time .

i have phonix v4j sim on pc and can fly any of the helis on there no problem and im flying and landing the trex 600 s on there in high winds with no problems .

ive read and read up on setups of variouse things like swash levels and pitch curves but the old wk68b is a bit of a dinosaur and i got conned into buying it in belife it was new , if i only new what i know now lol , anyway the 68b is a basher to learn to fly on as i have loads of spares and when i can hover that ill have another go with the v120d02 .
anyone around st helens interested in meeting up or know of any local meetings let me know please , tc all alan .

Hi and welcome to the forum! I'm sure there will be somebody on here who is near to St Helens. It is possible to do this on your own but it's much better to get help and always more fun to fly in a group!

I used to have a walkera v120d02. A great little heli for orientation practice indoors but it really didn't like the wind outside!

If you can find a local club get somebody to buddy up with you and start hovering on your 600. Everybody has their own advise but it's a much better heli than the walkeras and you can have confidence in it if it's checked over and set up correctly.

Enjoy and welcome to the forum!

I'm also a member of the RVMHC and I live in Hereford so you're much nearer than me!! I can second that they're a friendly bunch and that there will always be someone there to help you set up your helis. I've had (and still get) help in setting up all my helis and in the past year have gone from a serial hoverer to flying figure of 8's etc with their help. My son (who's 11) also goes and is just learning to hover his mCPX, although I think it's as much to do with the pizza and chips we have when we go as the flying

thanks for the replys all , finaly found a rc heli site where people actualy reply lol ,thanks especialy to dan im definatly interested in widnes flyers as i live on a country lane surrounded by farmland and lane i live on is border between st helens widnes and rainhill all meet here , i went blindly into buying a walkera 68b off ebay new about 12 months ago ( pauses for laughs ) and belive me its been a crash course into cp . setting up swash and re building helis , it has never left the ground since i took it from the box and has been re built 4 times (( another thread , i gave up on it and bought the v120d02 £400 off ebay which i thought was good at time with everything i got with it as the guy i got it off paid £600 and said he trashed it once re built it and sold it on to me , another mistake i feel .

the v120 is sat in flight case with 15 sets of spare blades 3 main gears shafts and tail booms but im convinced something im not yet learned enough to figure is wrong as ive virtualy re built it entirely and set pitch and curves yet a few days ago i was brave enough to try flying it again and within 3 seconds it disintegrated against a wall , it took off sharply sideways straght at wall , untill i find someone familliar with it that is local to me its staying boxed or getting sold on as i want to concentrate on the trex 600 nsp i have.

the tex is new and never flown and is staying that way till i get either lessons or someone to buddy box me with it to fly it , nothing on the sim is problem i can fly them all but my only 2 goals for the trex is to be able to autorotate and to do a funkey airwolf build i have most of whats needed ;-) .

sure ill get there just gotta take it slow as im weary now is it me or is it walkera electrics lol , still want to build my cessna to play with till i can get helis in the air safely ...

taking off is optional but landing is mandatory , thanks again all , alan .

im in bell lane wa9 4bd , google it and look how close i am to widnes field lol , ya have really made me happy especialy as its helis , i tried another local club and got funny looks about 18 months ago when i said i wanted to fly heli,s , i know helis are supposidly hard but so is indicating changing gear turning dipping clutch and accelerating on a car and i can make a rolly whilst im doing that lol , jokes aside i know theres loads to take into account and i have no doubts ill have a heli in air this summer , if my 4 y0 son can fly a 4c chinook i can get a 6 ch one up and stable , its only hard if ya dont know what ya doing ;-).
