  • my first lipo fire

well that was a very lucky escape.
    i had been charging 3 x 3.7 v lipos from the nano.
they bleeped so i pulled the leads and set up my 11.1 v lipo and got it running. i went to get the other two to charge and when i returned all i could hear was fizzing and smoke. i quickly unplugged the 3 cell and ran into the kitchen with it to throw it out the window and stopped as it looked ok. confused i looked back and it was the 3.7v lipos that were fizzing away...
i had unplugged the lead and dropped it onto the metal sink where it was shorting them out.
they have opened up like daffodils..
    lesson learnt

It’s a bit frightening when you see a Lipo go up for the first time, we all read about how quick they go up, but it’s not till you see one catch fire that you realise how dangerous they can be. Popped round a mates place and he started charging a 3.7v Lipo on a 7.4v charge!
Was a little complaisant until then, will never leave one charging unless it’s in a charge bag, scared the feck out of both of us. lol
It’s a hard but good lesson to learn, glade you only lost a battery.
