  • Dilemma !

    Hi chaps,

What do I do , it seems I'm more comfortable with my 500 than my 600 n . I'm a bit put off by the noise !

Now this is where the dilemma is, should I buy a Goblin as that's what I want when I get a bit better and sell the 600.

So the real question is can I learn on a goblin ? Can it be dumbed down ?

    Hope you can help

    Dilemma !

The goblin will probably more intimidating IMO. It's designed as an all out 3d machine that needs high head speed

      Re: Dilemma !

I'm no 3d'er & habe the Goblin 700 & have just taken delivery of a Goblin 500 as well, they do lend themselves to more agressive flying but invest in the hps head and you can still enjoy sport flying imo

        It's a hard one...
I too was intimidated by the noise of my 50, so started flying my Trex 500 a lot more, i then changed it to FBL & DFC head which seemed to liven it up a bit.
If anything i am now more scared of the 500 than any of my other helis as the head speed needs to be quite high!
If you want a larger heli than the 500 that can handle wind a lot better, i would go for the new TREX 550 DFC, i have just got one and it's an awesome machine which is super stable and in no way intimidating, in normal mode mine's a pussy cat, but in idle up 2 with an increased head speed it comes alive.
IMHO the 550 DFC is the best value heli on the market to suit all styles of flying, the parts are also very reasonable too!

        Dan.

Edit: if a Goblin was in my budget would i have one? YOU BET I WOULD!!

How much time have you given it?
I was v intimadated flying my whiplash gasser. Very loud with the tuned pipe.
          But am fine now.
Probably save a load of cash by trying a little longer.
Mate came over with his nitro the other day, i thought it was an electric for a moment.

            Dilemma !

Alex you can learn in most Helis including the goblin but tbh the 600n is one of the best Helis for size/agility and crash costs. You may be intimidated by it now but the fear of crashing a goblin will probly slow you even more than the 600 I've flown and crashed lots of Helis and the one that I enjoy the most and keep going back to is my 600 ESP . With the DFC head it just works and I know that if I bin it the bill is rarely over the 100 including blades

              Dilemma !

I fly a 700e and a 500pro and feel completely at ease with them, even flying other people's Helis I don't worry BUT flying Dzabo's 500 Goblin the other day DID worry me, I couldn't relax at all problem is you won't really no till you get it lol, Trex 550 would be a good option tho.

Thanks for the input so far

Got about a k to play with. I'm just wondering without all the noise I might concentrate better .

At my age I don't even buy green bananas just in case.

Why not a 600 DFC Pro as you like the 600 size apart from the noise? This one from helipal seems to be a bit of a bargain at the moment!?

I'm no 3D pilot and I found the Goblin 500 a really nice bird to fly. It's size means it fits in my boot so goes out regularly. Although I think the 600 size is by far the best size for learning on. One of the key things to learning, beside the sim, is stick time. Anything that gives you that is worth having. I've recently bought a N5 purely to increase my continuous flight stick time and would have gone fore a Trex 600N if I could have found one I liked.

With the noise, I found being at events really helped me get over that. MK Grass roots did it for me as you get up a bit closer to the helis and can become comfortable with things.
