Cheers mate, when I said miles apart what I really meant to say the control stick movements were far more "movable" than what I'd practiced on with the BCX2 controller.

But yes terrifying, heart thumping sweaty hands, well all over in fact, and the fact this is real and it'll cost and hurt if you ditch this like you've done in Phoenix were all going through my mind.

It'll be a while before I get her up again as I need a few extras, and we have other commitments right now taking anymore heli funds at this time.

So I'm going to get the DX6 to work on phoenix in hope this'll give me the true stick performance I experienced last night and prepare me better next time round.

        Know how you feel

Did some nose-on hovering at the W/E with Robgt on the end of a buddy lead. Now on the sim & trying to perfect it. But the sim is NOT REAL. When it's your own heli the knees knock & nerves take over.

So take it easy. Step by step. Enjoy & I hope the sim has at least got the basics into your fingers!

I tell you..one of the best moments is getting the trainer legs off. When you do you'll wonder why you had them on in the first place.

        Go for it.

Thank you David, I'm sticking with it mate, strange thing though, even with all the terror, i can't wait to try again.

It must be a nut-ball thing, something which is really nerve racking and you can't wait to do it again.

The adrenalin was pumping so hard thru me, I could taste it in my mouth, that horrible copper taste at the back of the throat, but seeing the others do there stuff inspires you to carry on thinking one day I want to look that cool flying.

            make the sim more realistic.
Get someone to stand behind you and salp you hard every time you crash.
That should reproduce the pressure and fear of flying the real thing.

The sim is realistic apart from the fear of crashing.

I found a more expensive way of making the sim seem realistic - crashing the real thing repeatedly so I'm no longer nervous about it
(its sort of worked for the old raptor, but not for the brand new 600n!).

Clare just loves this idea lol, I think if the DX6 stick movement was the same as in travel distances to make things move as the BCX2 TX I'd possibly have been a little less nervous, but when i realized they were different I kinda thought "crumbs, this is gonna be difficult."

Thanks mate, I also need to practice with the DX6 only from now on, Pip let me fly one of his Dragonfly's while there, and I managed to do two circuits with one, OK I know there vastly different from the 450, but I felt more at home with the CX2 TX he used to fly it, as the controls were familiar, plus the cyclic control proved Phoenix has taught me something.

Just on the wrong controller, but tomorrow I'll have another stab at getting the DX6 to work with Phoenix, that way I'll be more used to the feel and movement of the sticks compared to my CX2 TX.

Basically on the CX2 TX I only have to make very minute adjustments to keep a 450 in a stable tail in hover, with the DX6 the movements were more extreme stick wise to do the same, so when I took control of the real thing, in my mind the style of input to make the 450 fly in the gym would have ditched every 450 I'd practiced on in Phoenix, and what with flying the thing for real I really found it all quite intimidating and alien to the control method I was used to.

All these stick movements can be adjusted within the tranny you know Wayne.

Just don't make it too sensitive with the 450.

Thanks Ron, I'm gradually getting to grips with the DX6, I have it all up and working with Phoenix now, and what a difference just using it compared to my old CX2 TX, the penny dropped last night just how big the world of hurt was on Sunday at the gym.

I'm getting to grips controlling the 450 with her now, I'm giving it two weeks to become custom with the new stick movements before I attempt another go, yes I was thinking of binding the CX2 but she's going back to the shop under warranty as she's crabbing quite badly and nothing I've done seems to cure it, even Rod at the shop was stumped as to what could be causing it, but up until now I've avoided sending it back as I used the TX with Phoenix, but now that isn't a problem.

Brin cheers mate, I can assure you the bug to take it further will hit you, I don't know if before owning your Blade you flew those little foam hovers, I remember the feeling the power difference thinking oh my god what am I doing, well times that by a thousand and that's what it's like moving up to a Trex 450 from the CX2, it's a bitter pill to swallow when all of a sudden you haven't the fixed pitched blades to keep you up safely, and it's all or nothing.
