  • What happens when....

    Ya get too cocky

Here is my Twister CP Gold when I first bought it:

Here it is after I crashed it...:

Damage ain't that bad you might say..What cushioned the impact? you might ask

    The answer is...

    My own face:

2 Big cuts that Bleed tones, This was about 3 - 4 years ago, scared the life out of me wouldn't go no where near a heli for a long time.

I placed the heli down, turned my back for a few seconds when suddenly I heard the motor power up, looked round and saw it flying towards me and my little brother, managed to push him on the floor out the way before I got face full of heli.

I was very very lucky and shows that being cocky in this hobby and not taking the time to do stuff carefully will NOT end well...in my case nearly ending in me losing an eye.

I know there there has been a large growth in new members recently and thought this would just be a heads up to what happens when ya complete plonker in this hobby xD

    Plonker level 10/10

    Cheers
    John

Thanks for sharing/posting this... does people good to be reminded that even a small heli can inflict damage!

At least it didnt ruin your good looks, eh Jon?

Why did the motor power up do you think, out of interest? Were you spooling up with your back turned?

              Haha cheers mate

and I still have no idea, I had the Tx on a neck strap so there is a chance I knocked the throttle stick

or the TX was an old 35Mhz so interference is a big possibility as well

so what you getting for your 15th birthday then? lol.

only joking, jealous of them good looks and wishing i was 20 again.

i had a similar incident only i had to jump on the heli as it was heading for expensive sculptures. i was tryting to bind a 450 and didnt know you should not have the throttle up high.

I always try wear some sort of sunglasses with changeable lens when flying, as I always expect the unexpected as even a tail blade coming off will some how find your face 99% of the time just because that where it will do the most damage.

I used to fly my nano right up to my face until i flew it into my leg and it drew blood, dread to think what my 450 would do!

Just outta interest how old were you back then?

I think that nobody takes safety seriously enough (including myself I suppose). We have all flown without having done all of the pre flight checks. We have all done set ups on the bench with the blades on? 99% of the time there is no problem but we should attempt to eliminate that 1% chance. We should train ourselves to expect the unexpected (and that includes topics raised by my friend FuturaSE).
