Gopro camera

Good morning all,
I am thinking of purchasing a Gopro camera has anyone any knowledge of these .

I recently made a dji Quad and wish to use it with the camera . It looks like the Black Gopro 3 is the better one.

But there seem so many different versions.

there are all sorts of Gopro cameras, I think the Motorsport ones are what most people use. But i'm sure they would all work fine.

Somebody will know more than me..

Friend of mine uses the GoPro Black Edition and the quality is superb, the functionality is also superb.
Go on the GoPro site and review the specs. You do pay a lot for all this, but IMHO it is worth it and there are a plethora of accesories (which again you pay for).

Thanks for that. Yes I have looked on there. I just wondered which would be best as different versions ie surf, Motorsport etc. yes it's expensive but with the wifi kit 600ft range and control on iPad is impressive.

As with most sports all kit is expensive .

I bought the version 1 GoPro because it was half price after the new version (3 I think) came out. I'm very pleased with it so any higher version has got to be an improvement.

I think the different varients, motor sport, surf, just come with different style mounts. Mine came with a plethora of basic mounts but one of them came with cycling mounts. I wanted the basic ones so was happy with what I got.

There are three versions of the GoPro 3 out, White,Silver and Black with the Black being by far the best and most expensive. The only difference between same versions but motorsport or whatever are the mounts that it come with though I believe the GP3 doesn't really come with any of the expensive mounts such as the suction mount or head strap.

The wifi streaming on the GP3 has a 5 second lag so could not be used for FPV, I would imagine the range is pretty terrible as well though I haven't tested it as well.

There are also issues with lockups on the GP3 black edition espescially amongst other bugs in the firmware that have still yet to be resolved in the latest firmware.

I bought two GoPro Black Editions for Christmas and I have to say the quality is outstanding. I bought the "normal" Black version off Fast Lads:-

I also bought the chest mount for when I'm out on my mountain bike. The WiFi connection to the iPhone/ipad is awesome although there is a little bit of a delay in the video.

This video was filmed at 2.7k with my GP3 Black, I edited it and then put it up to Youtube in 1080p. you can see the quality even in low light is outstanding which is something the older GoPro's struggled with.

I bought the GoPro3 Black when they first came out. I had trouble deciding between the silver and the black especially as the Silver was in stock and the black wasn't and the silver was much cheaper than the black. The black also has abilities that I will probably never use - 4k etc

In the end I bought the black and like others it had one or two firmware issues - mostly charging and locking up. The latest firmware update has cured all these issues.

I am delighted with the black and the quality - even after YouTube has ruined it is still pretty good and replayed on a 60 inch LED TV the quality is astounding.

The ability to line up the camera using a Ipad or Iphone is really great and makes altering settings a breeze.

Among the gopro alternatives are the driftHD and the Muvi HD10. These are lighter and cheaper and come with many of the expensive gopro accessories such as a built in screen and remote control.
Heres some clips from my Muvi HD10 (available for £110 off amazon):

If you intend to shoot a high frame rate at 1080 then beware of the computing power required to video edit. My 1080 30fps is bad enough to edit on my i52300 with 6GB of ram if you shoot more than a few minutes in each clip.

You will also find consumer cameras such as the samsung WB150F have remote control via wifi and link to any smart phone with remote viewfinder with the photos ending up on the smartphone or in the camera, with control of zoom and still shooting, but strangely not video.
