my 450 tail has started doing occasional kicks to the right with no stick input, im thinking gyro issue any thoughts, ive got a futaba gy401, tail servo is a align 425 digital, its been fine upto now

Is it doing it all the time or just near the end of the flight? Depending how your esc is set to cut off, soft cut off can cause the kick your talking about as it "pulses" the power.
check your tail slider isn't sticking

Also have a look at the ribbon cable from the gyro, ensure it isn't fretting against the frames and causing a short (assuming you have carbon fibre frames)Trex 500ESP - Scorpion motor, CC ice 75 esc. Spartan Quark gyro, Std Align servos
