I hear so many pilots, old and new saying that these blades or that gyro made their heli feel "locked in" so wth does "locked in" even mean ??

It does exactly what you tell it to do, think of it as a more direct link between you and the heli. However some system's are so "locked in" that they feel too robotic in there movement's and don't flow well through maneuvers like a very good FBL unit will.TREX 700E DFC SK540

Yeah it's like a sliding scale of how the heli behaves and how in control/connected you feel with the heli, how much it's doing its own thing vs what your telling it... That sliding scale looks something like this:
Mind of its own........really poor.........poor..........Ok...........good...... ....very good.......LOCKED IN!

But yeah all the above answers are correct. Basically its instinctive to fly and your not fighting it. Feels natural and stableSome say my left nipple is the shape of a Raptor canopy.......... And that for fun I chase sheep in wellies 3 sizes too big. All I know is I am 3D Clod
