DX7s switching off in flight?

Hi,

Anyone had any experience with there DX7s restarting mid flight? Unfortuantley planted my 450 as a result. It should still be under warranty so is it a known problem?

Before the bun fight starts

1) did the radio actually turn off
2) did you loose signal from radio to tx
3) nimh or Lipo pack fitted
4) rx flashing on model
5) software version

1) yes it actually restarted
2) yes lost signal
3) NiMH pack fitted
4) RX flashing
5) software version latest update from spektrum not sure on version.

Make sure you fill in the HAVE YOU CRASHED today thread, smash dx7 with a big stick, shout wildly at horizon and buy the Futaba you know you should have bought in the first place

ERRRR cos I too have been victim of Spektrum, Futaba have yet to fail me??? Or is it cos im a shyte stirring barsteward??

My DX7s restarted on me when I went to change the battery on my 130X a couple of months ago - it was sitting there for about 15 seconds on the floor quite happy while I went to pick up the 130X, and when I was removing the canopy on the 130X, the DX7s physically switched off and then back on again and then started beeping because the throttle hold switch was set to hold. As a result, I don't really trust it anymore, certainly not for anything bigger than the 130X... that said, I have used it a few times with the X5 recently (foolishly perhaps) but thankfully, it hasn't reset on me again. I haven't sent it back yet, but I will pretty soon.

I must admit, I'm planning on changing over to Futaba - as soon as I can to be honest. There have been so many instances of Spektrum products not being reliable that I don't think I'd stick with Spektrum anymore, at least not for anything 450 size plus.

Next pay packet I'm planning on buying a 14sg/rx combo!

OUCH thats an expensive swap over. Wouldnt an 8j, or 8fg suit you just aswell??

If you got "fat fingers" go for the 14SG. The switch spacing on the 8FG it's very tight, well was for me anyway!

Otherwise both are great set's.

Just out of interest Panos, how much is a 14sg costing over the 8fg?? (i have fat everything let alone fingers)

Possibly, but I like to think that I'd be future proofing myself... plus I like the vibrate and beep flight time warning... and the telemetry idea.

fair enough. I quite like the 10c if im honest, I know its old hat but the module idea appeals to me so I can leave some 35meg and have some 2.4 where it needs it, IE Big electrics
