  • Is it just me ?????

As many of you know I got a logo 600 se around Xmas time and its a lovely heli. I initially had a few mech issues that are now sorted and it flies superbly. Now here's the BUT lol....................................This heli for whatever reason, intimidates me and my flying is suffering because of it. I had a forced auto a few weeks back when the belt jumped the rear pulley and although I got it down I am just seeing £££££££ signs flying instead of enjoying it.
It could be the lack of flying I've done recently or it could be that because work has been quieter than usual, I am worried about crash costs( it's the carbon framed version) but I'm not enjoying it like I hoped I would.

I have a 600 ESP beater that I have no fear of but still have not rebuilt it from its dirt nap in feb

Will this feeling pass or should I move it on ? Is it just me or does anyone else feel like this or am I being a poof ?

Not only you. I have similar effect with my TDR, hence I just keep it on the bench for time being after my 1k crash last year. It wasn't really only about the heli being expensive but more so really big, fast and mean. Lugging it to the car was annoying too. My Logo 600sx is much more portable.

Considering the above, I think if you buy a Logo 800 and start flying it, your problems with 600se will pass

I have models which get flown in a more gentle fashion, and then I have a couple of models which I'm more relaxed with. Get your beater sorted and just enjoy the Logo.
          Cheers,

I think you should give it time mate, you've still been tweaking bits on it so haven't really had time to get used to it in any setting, every time you've flown it it's been on a different setup, I think once you're happy with the setup you'll love it mate. It's an awesome machine and I'm well jell lol

I bought an N5 a few years back and although really liked flying it, a bit like you Don the cost of repairs was astronomical compared to my 600 so it went eventually. Now my 600, obviously I'm a bit peeved if it goes in but I know £100 normally and it's back in the air. Coupled with the fact you get 2 bits in every bag then it often isn't an expensive crash at all. The 700 died spectacularly yesterday but the way I look at it, my flying is never going to be up there with the rest but I really enjoy flying, so a couple of hundred quid on a crash bearing in mind I haven't had one for a bout 9 months isn't too much to worry me.

I reckon just fly it Don and try to forget about the cost, it's why I fly on the cheap

                  Is it just me ?????

I get you Dave in fact I went almost a year without a crash then had 3 in a month but I was pushing it lol. I want to progress and I may just be bleating due to weather and lack of airtime but I had similar feelings with the rave env but had crash funds back then so it wasn't as bad.
I have thought about converting to a 600 3d but that would make the whole thing psychological as there will still be as much cash in the air just running a smaller disc lol

I have managed two tanks and still have a worthy repair bill lol - I think if its going to happen it will. Just enjoy the time you have the air as much as you can.

                          Man up Don!

Or get that 600 in the air and get a bit of stick time again, get the ol' confidence back up. I had a Faifa quite a while ago which I felt the same as you do about your Logo but now my flying has moved on a notch I'd quite happily have it back again. Personally now though, if one of my helis go in I just order the parts and get it flying again and move on, luckily the only one I've had recently was when I was a total nob head and ran my Rave out bloody fuel a couple of weeks ago. The problem of having so much fun and getting carried away!!

What parts do you need for your 600?

My thought would be that as you fly it more and get comfortable with it you'll start to forget about crashing. Just take it relatively easy or leave yourself some margin for error in altitude and just spend the time flying it until it doesn't feel like something new and different.

At the moment I think the only heli where I have the proverbial £££ in the back of my mind is the Avro and that's mainly because I had problems with the previous engine that caused three forced autos and if the tailrotor touches the ground the crown gear always strips and it's £15.00 plus whatever else gets dinged. The worst thing would be to really put it in hard because the canopy is very expensive and it's custom painted. But if I get confident that the current engine (OS91HZ-PS) is gonna be reliable I'll quickly forget the money and just fly it like everything else.

There is also a phenomenon where sometimes if you're relaxed you can both fly harder AND crash less. A prime example for me would be my Trex 500. It has been the everyday basher and gets flown more than the others, it's the heli I try all the new stuff I've done on the sim and I cannot tell you how many close calls I've had and how many sticky situations I've been able to get out of and I think it's mainly because I was never worried about crash costs with it. Whereas with the Avro I'm already three times more tense just hovering it.

The Rave I felt comfortable with right from the start even though on my 2nd outing with it I thought it was going in, not just once but 3 times! ('had the ESC going into low-voltage mode due to bogus settings I accidentally left in it but I didn't realise that's what it was at the time).

The only other heli that used to give me the heebee jeebees was the Century Predator gasser.
