Trex 500 lost of power?

Hi everyone


Just put a new 3gx with one sat after I had a little crash with the old 3G unit so I replace with a new 3gx the is dfc all setup fine 1st fight my fault flying to close to the ground and clip the floor striping all servo gears replace all gears and main shaft and blades test flight nice into a hover then it lost all power, well the motor slowed down so auto down and the light on 3gx and sat flashing reset everything back in a hover and again about 30sec motor slowed down and again all lights flashing.
Is it the esc or sat or 3gx help please
I just mite go back to Flybar and be done with it

First problem you have is you need a extra sat on a 500, next problem you bec may not be upto the task.
if you are using v3 software the unit is hungry for amps ,which your standard esc bec is going to struggle , you can turn the gains down a bit I believe, but not a 100%fix. Answer use a separate bec eg castle bec pro

3GX units had/have a static issue causing them to reset... could this be your problem ?

I don't think that is actually an issue in use on a helicopter, but only when you do what he did in that video (deliberately discharging a static charge on a bench test).

It's not like you'll be grounding a charge on the belt (if you have a belt drive, since belt drives are more prone to static) to the 3GX case in actual use up in the air.

There are several reports of 3GX resetting in the air on a heli... static is one option... low volts on the bec is another... bad firmware is another...

I think the low voltage one is far more likely, and bad firmware could be the issue if there was a problem when it was flashed, but that usually means a dead piece of hardware when that happens. Static seems unlikely, at least discharging to the chrome on it, as something would have to be touching that or at least quite close to it, and the way most people install them keeps it away from any potential conductors, most are mounted to plastic and well away from the tail (since most static problems occur on belt helis)

Static can build up on the surface of plastic due to friction (and there is plenty of this in a vibrating helicopter)... that charge can also transfer (not necessarily discharge) to anything metalic (including the chrome casing of 3GX)... The chrome casing also wraps onto the inside of the 3GX. Now if an internal component of the 3GX is extremely close to or touches under vibration the casing of the 3GX unit then the resulting discharge could reset the 3GX. This was the problem reported to Align and demonstrated in the vid. I agree it's unlikely but it is entirely possible... and yes belt drive tails are far more susceptible.

Ok must be missing something here I have connected my cc bec pro to the 3gx with both leads and removed the red cable from the stock esc but no life in the 3gx ????
Running bec on its own 2cell for now any ideas
