  • posting lipos?

What service are people using to post lipos nowadays?

It seems all the ones i've checked ban them through their service. There must be a way or people wouldn't be able to order them?

Last time I had Lipos delivered from H/K, they were delivered by UPS!

I could be wrong but don't manufactures or suppliers of new items have special allowances or something. There seems to be a blanket ban on sending them outside of this.

I think you can use parcell force they have a lipo warning sign label on their website for sticking on parcels.

I just wrap them up with plenty of bubble wrap & put them in a strong cardboard box - post them with royal mail.

They don't give a shit about my stuff why should I be bothered with theirs - I do take a certain amount of care, such as only selling/posting lipos with good storage charged cells. I dispose of puffed/damaged lipos myself would never sell or post one in that condition.

on the 14th January 2013, the rules regarding the postage of lithium batteries (classed as dangerous goods) changed :

                International Postage
The following items remain specifically prohibited from the international post:

                # Lithium batteries, and items sent with lithium batteries, unless the battery is contained in a device (camera, phone, laptop etc)

                UK post
The following items are now allowed in the UK post, but specific restrictions in terms of battery capacity, volume, quantity, packaging and labeling apply:

                # Lithium batteries when sent with, or contained in, a device

so basically, we are just not allowed to post our lipo batteries abroad but we can post them within mainland Britain but strict rules still apply.

That is not really accurate, you need to check the details:

                  http://www.royalmail.com/sites/defau...Jan-2013_2.pdf

We cannot use Royal Mail to ship a lipo of any size on its own and that is mostly what people here are trying to do when selling them 2nd hand.

Crazy as it may seem, yes. Within the letter of the rule if not the intent

Even then you would have problems with 6S 5000 packs though.

lol funny world - So what difference does it make if the lipo is inside a device or a separate one?

At the end of the day any battery can fail and catch fire at any moment so why single out our lipos =)

The theory is that a battery installed in a device is protected from external damage in ways that a loose battery is not.

Think of your mobile phone battery for example ...

LOL recently that puffed up and looked ready to pop!

Yeah I can appreciate what their saying but with good packaging should be ok - trouble is that's a variable they don't want risk isnt it.
