  • Digital Pitch Gauge - Am I being stupid?

I'm going through the VBar setup on my Goblin at the moment. I've levelled everything out, set all the links etc etc.

This video shows the issue better than I can explain it. I'm rather stumped as to how it is happening? It's either 0 degrees or it isn't! Turning it 180 degrees shouldn't make any difference, right?

    I must be missing something?

I always level both blades in the same direction so I rotate to the front and 0 them there. If you swap to the back blade make sure you put the pitch gauge in the same orientation that you calibrated it

I wondered that but if say the table was 2 degrees off level, then surely would expect to see -2 if the gauge was one way and +2 degrees if it was the other way?

The table is half a degree off level, so when you zero on the head, the grips read zero.
Then turn the gauge round, head and grips see twice the error - everything reads one degree off, head and grips.
            Probably...

I have started using the Align "T" that you screw in place of the head button and put a flybar in it. Now I use a non digital pitch gauge that is not concerned with any calibration problems.

Digital Pitch Gauge - Am I being stupid?

I will have another crack at it later tonight.

What is the best solution for this then? Level the table? The heli? Calibrate it on the head block? Motor? Or just leave It on the natural magnetic levelling? Or throw the whole thing in the bin?

No just level it on the head or the motor and only read from that direction and it'll be fine.

As Dave says,i calibrate on the yoke as you did facing front and then do both blades at the front without moving the heli,i use the whole gauge on the blade.

Motor works very well for me.

Digital Pitch Gauge - Am I being stupid?

                            Splendid. Cheers chaps!

Here's another one for you then - the VBar is giving me 11 degrees approx at 100 on the cyclic pitch setting screen. It says that the control loops work best when I can get about 12/13 degrees between 80 & 100.

What should I do? I'm using the QUK Logo 500/600 metal horns that have the 17mm approx hole as was suggested to me. There is another one further out at 20mm but this is beyond the recommended 16-18mm that SAB have suggested.

Should I move the ball link further out? Or just up the slider beyond the 100 mark until I get the max pitch I want which will bring it outside the recommended control loop on the VBar?

Just increase the slider to your desired pitch, I'm guessing you won't go much over 105 to 110 on the slider, which is fine!

                              Cheers,
